i disagree slightly, yes a lot of top defenders are technically capable these days, but i still think if Terry and Vidic were in their prime, theyd still be up there with the best, Particularly Vidic

I think defenders are being asked to be more technical these days, so now when people see a defender with great ball skills they immediately assume that they're not a "good old hard" defender or some nonsense. If somebody like Thiago Silva was a * passer I truly think a lot of people would say he's better just because that skillset would fit in better with what is expected of a center back.

None of whom are amongst the best defenders in the world. Vidic was a few years ago, he isn't now.

A fit vidic is still one of the best defenders in the world, hes been excellent any time hes played this season but ofcourse his injury problems has stopped him from playing regularly but his ability is still there in abundance. As far as his aerial abilities go he still has no match.

I think it's funny that this is a Champions League thread but the finalists are barely getting a mention.

Yes, it looks to me as though we're seeing discussion on teams who played in the Champions League this year. What's wrong with that?

So people shouldn't be discussing Barcelona's weaknesses which cost them a Champions League match against Bayern Munich?

Both Dortmund and Bayern have been mentioned plenty of times, don't worry :smiley-laughing002:

Gutted, any chance of sneaking away from it?

Surely you've got a few relatives who are football fans, band together and demand a telly on the evening! :86:

Dortmund fans have said they will not be making a display to put on show at the CL final at Wembley. This is in protest about UEFA's regulations in the final, including the allocation of tickets sold to Dortmund fans, and how/where a possible choreo display would have been allowed happen, so for example, they would have only been allowed to use a quarter of the lower tier of Wembley stadium :97:
