"It's all been downhill for Barca since the CL final of 2011" suggests that Barcelona have had no success since 2011 when this is clearly not the case. Would they not have went up after winning 3 more trophies in 2011?

Care to answer the question about Bayern Munich?

Of course it is, I was merely commenting on the following exchange:

I'm not trying to argue against your position, I don't watch enough football these days to know enough to take sides in this debate, so I'm just watching from the outside- sitting on the fence :52:; I just happened to remember something from back when I did use to watch a lot of football that seemed relevant to the debate. :50:

Pretty sure it was late 90s btw. Wiki says 98.

They sacked him for not winning it with enough "style". It's a bit like Di Matteo at Chelsea.

Fair enough. Cheers. I remember them being quite a nice team to watch, but obviously not on the same level as the "galacticos" that came not long after.

They sacked him like 48 hours after winning the league. He'd won 2 Champions Leagues as well.

They also sacked Capello after winning the league for not doing it with enough style.

Seriously, how long did you think Barca were going to reign as the best team in the world? It had to come to an end eventually, doesn't it? Players get older, circumstances change. You speak as if your prediction is something special.

Guess what? I predict that even though it's * it down, we'll eventually get some summer weather. At one point I'll be "patently right".

Christ, you think if he was going to play at being a smart-* he'd at least check his spelling :54:

I thought there was 20 players on the park for Bayern at times last night they were that good at pressing, getting men behind the ball then attacking with pace and power, outstanding performance. Barcelona have been poor in Europe this year but i didn't think they would get spanked as bad as that.

Barcelona need to sell a few players, and re build with very good defenders, another goalscorer and add some muscle who can fight aswell as play (Toure/Keita like). They have patched the team up for too long now.

Has Barcelonas success ended, personally i don't think so, they have been successful in Europe than most sides in recent times, winning it twice and reaching the semis every year. They have been poor in Europe this season though, a summer of rebuilding and improving the squad will help them, as outwith the first 11 they don't have much quality imo, and against the elite it shows. The biggest thing i have noticed in the last year is that the pressing game has disappeared which is showing how weak the defence is.

Bayern have always been my second team so absolutely delighted for them to wipe out last year's final defeat. I honestly thuoght that was Bayerns best chance to win CL, as it was at their home ground but we all seen last night that they're now stronger in every department, and by using last year as motivation, they'll be all out to win the CL.

    Who Barca or Bayern??

A good centre back and i would say they would be right in it.

Tito getting sick was where it went wrong this year, at the start of the season they where as good as they where this last 4 years..
Give him a full season with the squad and they will not be far off.

Barcelona were also missing their best defender and the best player in the world. You take Puyol & Messi out a team and it's going to have an effect. Messi never played for either leg really. Add Mascherano to that list and they had 3 quality absentees. Barcelona had their best ever start to a campaign this year, and had only been beaten by Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup until we beat them at Parkhead. The illness of Tito was when it all started to go a bit Pete Tong for them.

Football technique doesn't matter all that much for central defenders and goalkeepers. When Barcelona realize this, then things will improve for them.

Abidal has been a huge miss for Barca this season as well. His pace and calmness at the back let them play further forward.

It was a random fan. Ribery gave him his shirt as he was being pulled away by the stewards. Nice scenes
