Klasnic, maybe. Del Piero would be invaluable for the Champions League though.

    * me, we've been crying out for a target man but I would want the guy to be slightly more than just a target!

Plus I'd be mightily embarrased if he came up here and was a 20 a season striker :56:

I take it I'm the only crackpot who feels Heskey could offer us something good on the pitch?

He could offer us something on the pitch, just not goals. Celtic strikers need to have goals in him. He is exceptional at holding the ball up, however I rate somebody like Samaras far higher than him in that regard.

John Carew when a Valencia player publicly slated Celtic and scottish football in general just before we played them in the Uefa Cup in 01/02 season then did it again when Norway played Scotland. CUNTTTTTT

It's only a Twitter rumour that "deal falls through" stuff mate :50:

As James said, all we know as yet is that the Oz media and Sydney keep prematurely implying they have him. And until he says so himself I refuse to believe them :50:

I reckon he would probably get around 10-12 goals.

Holding up the ball is exactly what we need upfront - I think if he where to partner Hooper, then Hooper would turn into a near 30 goal striker:50:

Del Piero's Sydney deal not sealed yet - agent

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sydney-fc-target-italy-legend-del-piero-160243375--sow.html

Juventus great Alessandro Del Piero has not yet committed to Sydney FC, according to his agent and brother Stefano.
Sydney FC, Scottish champions Celtic, Southampton, Sporting Braga of Portugal and Swiss side FC Sion are among the clubs chasing Del Piero's signature.
The Australian side announced on their website Friday that the 37-year-old Del Piero, whose 19-season spell with Juve ended last season, had "agreed to finalise details on a contract with the Sky Blues."
However after Stefano Del Piero said the announcement was premature the club were forced into amending the statement to say they would be coming to Turin early next week in a bid to effectively twist Del Piero's arm.
The club have already made huge efforts to lure Del Piero Down Under, highlighting the sun, sea and barbecue lifestyle Australia is known for the world over.
But the lure of staying in Europe, and the possibility of playing Champions League football, could prompt Del Piero to stay on the continent.
Del Piero, the agent, later told ANSA that representatives from Sydney would be in Turin "in the first days of next week".
He added: "Obviously things were misinterpreted this morning. We still have to properly analyse the project.
"(The offer) has not left Alessandro indifferent, we're talking about a two-year deal worth two million dollars (AUS) a year.
"It's a serious offer, but that doesn't mean everything's decided. Only once we look at all the details will Alessandro be able to make a decision. It's exactly what we did with the offer from Sion."
FC Sion, who had hoped to lure Del Piero just over the border, are not involved in European football's premier club competition.
Celtic may not enjoy the Australian lifestyle but made it into the group stages of the Champions League on Wednesday and have been drawn in Group G with Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.
Braga are also in the Champions League, having been drawn in Group H with Manchester United, Galatasaray and CFR-Cluj of Romania.
Southampton, meanwhile, are languishing in the lower reaches of the Premier League table.
Sydney, meanwhile, will be hoping Del Piero does sign, given their bold statements earlier Friday when Sydney FC Chairman Scott Barlow said: "We feel honoured that Alessandro has decided to play for Sydney FC and we share his excitement that a move to Sydney FC will create a lasting legacy for football in this country."
