I am going to spend all my working day refreshing the Aussie news. I now hate Sydney FC.

    Haha I'm with ya man. 70k a week, *!?

Really blows my mind how it seems club after club you never hear about seem to have money trees in their backyard, yet the grandest club of them all doesn't have two pennies to rub together!

    Very true.

Another perfect example of how football is a metaphor for everyday life. Money makes the world go round.

Dont forget that is Aussie dollar 70k per week. Is around 42k per week in pounds.

Not so bad considering Drogba gets around 320k pounds per week in China. Cannavaro got around 180k per week in Dubai.

    near the bottom :54:

But talks with Italian World Cup winner Del Piero, 37, have stalled. Lennon added: “His name came up in conversation. We spoke to his advisors, but I don’t think there is any more mileage in it.
“It would have been nice. I know he’s older but he’s got another year in him at least. It wasn’t beyond us, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
“It was a one-off. There aren’t many of his ilk around. He’s a class act and, even at 37, very fit. But money was an issue.
“I think it appealed to him but I don’t think it’s going to run any further.”

Looking for one last pay day suggests astronomical wage demands. Del piero obviously isnt looking for that or he'd be in the us or the emirates. But you crow away if you like

Edit, don't know why I quoted you there James!

Lennon said money was 'an issue' big difference between 'an issue' and 'the issue'

Lennon's not going to be shouting from the roof of paradise claiming ADP is going to sign for us....its all under the radar.

if he accepts £40k in Australia then it's more about us and the money than him and the money.

whose idea was it to add the wavey emoticon........... seems to be the go to symbol for those who fancy being arsey

Lamond John reports: 'I have been looking at some of the strong rumours and belive the 2 big name signings for Celtic today will be * Boly (Auxerre) and Del Piero (Juve). Just speaking to a Man City fan and he says Celtic are signing Boyota on loan but not sure about that one...'

That guy's just a punter who's been looking at the transfer rumours. No inside knowledge.

40K a week for Del Piero makes a lot more sense, reports of 20K yesterday didn't add up at all. Even though he's 37, he 's still fit. If he wants 40k a week we should offer that and try to get him, wouldn't we make it back on shirt sales and publicity?
