    I hate when people say this. It's like saying Gary Caldwell was * because he scored so many own goals. When in actual fact he's * because he can't play football.

    In all seriousness though I liked Caldwell and think he's a good CB.

    Back to Dunne. Own goals doesn't mean he's * it means he's been unlucky. Most were probably him throwing himself at the ball (something which a lot of players wouldn't do) desperately trying to keep it out.

    the only thing I see wrong with this is that he's nearly 33. Even still, we need a wise head on the pitch IMO.

    What own goals show is that he puts his body on the line for his team.

    He isn't intentionally rattling the ball past his own keeper FFS :56:

    Anybody who saw Dunne play for Ireland in Moscow only a few months would say yes get him if possible. His performance that day was on a par with Paul McGrath's performance for Ireland v Italy in New York '94.

    McGrath wanted to sign for Celtic when Liam Brady enquired about him but Villa boss Ron Atkinson wouldn't sell him at the time. Villa seemingly are willing to offload Dunne, snap him up I say.

    I don't want another band-aid like Majstorivic.

    If we're going to get a CB i want one on a 4-5 year deal that is going to be part of Celtic's future.

    Every Irish player was bad at the Euros, it says a lot about how your set up to play against teams like spain and italy when Keith Andrews was our best player.

    Good thing about Dunne is we can stick him beside Rogne and he'll learn heaps from him, it would really bring him on as a player in my opinion. Dunne would perform for us for the next few years, while we scout for gems like Izzy and Wanyama but in the mould of a solid CB obviously.

    Also, Dunne wouldn't have to be the only CB we bring in during this window.

    Completely different players and circumstances but anyway, Maj was the right signing at the right time. It was impossible to see he was going to completely lose his legs 6 months after he joined.

    Maj has some awesome performances for Celtic and Dunne is the same type of player, except Dunne has pace.

    I think he would do a job for us and our centre backs would learn a lot from him

    The only thing i thought when I saw this was...slaw will be so happy.

    He's proven himself at the highest level and he's better than what we already have so I think he would be a great signing.
