Did him singing the national anthem really offend you that much?

Get over it mate it wasn't a big deal. Plenty of other medal winning Scots done the same. So * if Murray cried at Wimbledon he's won a gold medal and the US Open since I'm sure he's pretty content.

It * me off, yes. I think it's disgusting that any Scot should sing that anthem.

When he was younger, Murray made some comment about not caring if England lost at football(or something similar to that). He took some stick for it but I thought 'good on you'. Why should a Scot want England to win or care if they win? I respected him for saying what he really felt.

To me, him singing that anthem just makes him look like a sellout who's playing up to the whole 'British' thing to get English tennis fans on his side. If that's what he wants to do then that's up to him. It doesn't mean I have to like it.

I was never a massive Andy Murray fan anyway but I was glad to see him do well because he's a Scot. Now I couldn't care less whether he wins or loses.

He wore a Paraguay top when England played them in the group stages of the 2006 World Cup, he got stick for that too.

Completely agree he only sang GSTQ to keep the English fans on side. He's a professional player we all have to make the right noises when we're at the office.

I'm a republican and a nationalist, but if a fellow Scot wants to sing the national anthem it's not for me to tell them otherwise, and I certainly won't be offended. I can't understand your thinking Marky, but you're coming across as bitter. Sometimes in life you have to realise that not everyone thinks the same way that you do.

His burd's English, give the guy a break. I hated that he sang that dirge but it was the Olympics that I never watched any of so I didn't care too much. Just saw it as a great stepping stone and confidence boost to take into the slams as he has now done. Fantastic performance, it wasn't like Djokovic turned up and had an off day, some of those extended rallies were phenomenal between the two of them. Superhuman mental strength from a guy who is supposedly a "bottler". He out Djokovic'd Djokovic!

Have to agree with Che there marky, you are coming across quite bitter for something that is relatively meaningless. So what if he sang it? He was playing in the Olympics for Team GB not Scotland and therefore the national anthem is GSTQ.

I have no doubt he considers himself Scottish first then British. Why can't we celebrate a scot or a Brit doing something that hasn't been done for 3/4 of a * century.

Imagine the grief he would've gotten if he kept his mouth shut, relatively inane comments about England in the world cup were taken out of context in the past by the press when they had their knives out for him.

Those same fleet street hacks will now fete him for weeks. That's life unfortunately.
