There is no debate, if the coaching is failing the Club the Manager still carries the can because it's his job to oversee the lot. Hence why Deila is the one that resigned.

It's the same in every organisation, not just fitbaw Clubs.

I don't agree with that at all mate.

I know the manager has to take the responsibility as the main man but that in no way exempts the other coaches roles in our failure. The coaches are integral to how a team plays, and the results a team gets.

Remember the football we played in our first season under Lenny domestically, really fast attacking football and we were blowing teams off the park? When Alan Thompson left as coach we never played that type of football again in Scotland, in my opinion. Not consistently anyway. Although we were obviously still successful.

Also look at the impact John Robertson has had on Martin O'Neills managerial career. Been there with him through all his successes in club football, and funnily enough wasn't there at Sunderland where O'Neill evidently had a tough time of it.

One blatant example of where Kennedy and Collins have * up this season is our defending at set pieces. Kennedy admitted himself he was responsible for setting us up to defend set pieces, and we've conceded an embarrassing amount from them. He has to take a large part of the blame for that.

Ronny has been the main decision maker but he doesn't control absolutely every minute aspect of how the players play and how we play as a team. The coaches and players can be heavily criticised too.

Great post my point exactly but you explained it in far more detail, in my opinion the fact that good management and successful coaching breeds good winning teams

Aye agree with this, look at how some assistants have walked into the big time; AVB, Quieroz, Mourinho, Rodgers, even Zidane as a recent example shows how much an assistant is worth to a teams performance. He got a bad deal not being able to choose his own guys.

Got lambasted off some for suggesting Larsson might be approached as Lamberts assistant, people saying it would never happen he is his own man etc. I agree, although any manager who knows what he is doing appreciates the value of good assistant's, and will source out as many good ones as possible even it seems far fetched they will come.

I don't actually disagree with any of that except the conclusion you draw from it. My point is just that we don't know much about who does what and what it was that actually failed. Kennedy did set-pieces fair enough, but he doesn't get half the criticism Collins does. For all we know Collins could be brilliant (though I doubt it).

They are football coaches, they coach the team to improve and play well, like I said in my other post. Thats what their job is, and they have failed at that this season. They failed collectively in my eyes. And that includes the players. You can shift the level of blame whatever way you see it but I dont think anyone should be immune to criticism.

I defended Deila a lot, mainly up until about January, but ther has been no excuse for the levels of performances domestically this season. Its been poor coaching all round.

Kennedy will probably move back to the youth set up, Collins is no massive loss he'll soon get back his job as a pundit with SKY

I'm glad Collins is leaving but I hope the new manager will be allowed to choose his own #2. The board's track record in picking assistant managers is hardly stellar.

I agree. He also has to sign his own players. Managers lives and dies by these imo.

Collins was a questionable appointment in the first place. Has done * all. Waste of space. If Ronny had any backbone he should've picked his own assistant.

He's a *. He talks a lot of *, never has anything intelligent to say. Has made the team look like silly * by saying "we're far too clever for anybody in the league" then nearly get beat by Kilmarnock. Get him to * as well.

    Bit harsh.

Don't see a whole lot wrong with what he said there, it's called a caveat.
