It's ignoring a * of a lot of context though, so much that you could read more into it.

Scottish Media and Neill Lennon eh. Scummy * *, he's out the country and away from the bigoted * and they still can't help themselves trying to smear him.

Don't care who's saying what here. Pointing out we've played poor in Europe and no scored, even while having several chances, only highlights how poor we've been. Anytime we feel we're turning a corner we miss so many chances, then concede really * goals.

Time for excuses To stop and time to get it sorted

Seems like the type of guy that while he is talking to you all that is going through your head is "is that right aye? * up *"

Ive always find him very difficult to like. Probably started back when he was a pundit for our CL games. Just remember him being arrogant and critical, almost claiming to know better. Now hes got a role in the club and failing in the Europa.

See that's a good point about punditry in general. Take Souness for example to listen to him you would think he was the greatest mastermind ever. Could have won the World Cup with Liverpool given the chance. Bunch of knobs the majority. Some decent ones.

It's not covering anything. The facts are, this season in Europe we have been utter abysmal, and in the qualifiers last year we were as well. If comparing with the previous manager's record at the same stage, something which is done regularly in football, it's pretty much on par, arguably better in fact. If we go out of the CL at the qualifiers next year however, it's time to go. If we qualify though, the decision to give him the same length of time as previous managers to get it right in Europe will be justified.

I don't see a problem with stating facts about a previous manager's record though. It's in black and white after all. Just as Deila's is as well, and it shows that his European record is no worse than the previous manager at the same stage. That cannot really be argued. Manager's records being compared is fairly common to be honest.

    Like I said it's ignoring a * of a lot of context.

See if he's still here next year, people can finally stop trying to ignore his failings because Lenny's first two seasons of recovering from a Mowbray shipwreck and playing against cheating scum.

We are in a far different place and got far different goals than in 2010 to 2012.

People need to get a * grip and realise that instead of trying to deride a Celtic legend to stick up for him.

Both he and Ronny come across as arrogant as each other..

They have total belief in what they are trying to achieve and in the way they want to achieve it.

This belief/arrogance will either make us great or will continue to set us up for failure, in Europe..

Collins was one of the best midfielders we've had in the modern era, that brilliance doesn't always transmit to good coaching.

I don't think people are ignoring his failings though. They are simply pointing out that our previous manager had similar failings to begin with as well, and he went on to get things right. So, why shouldn't Deila be given the same length of time to get things right?

Because the situations are completely different. The landscape has changed, we have different goals.

It's * ridiculous that people think he should be judged on 2010 standards? * is that about? I can't understand that whatsoever.

Can't help thinking what would have been if Ronny had come in as Lenny's assistant and we kept buying decent foreign prospects and had Ronny doing the rehab and bringing through youth players... :54:

    Aye, yer absolutely right.

I mean, after all, Lennon had (reportedly) all of the McGeady money sale, Stephen McManus, Artur Boruc etc and the rest to fund the signings of multiple players when he became full-time manager - players like Hooper, Ledley, Juarez, Kayal, Izaguirre etc etc

By my counting, Deila has had very VERY little money to spend from the sale of Virgil, Forster etc.

If it was a choice between John Collins and John Hughes i'd take John Hughes, not because he was a better player, but because i think he'll be a much better manager.

It's got nothing to do with how wonderful they were at playing football, it's about motivating the players, picking the right players in the right positions and playing to their strengths.

Collins says he's not gonna stop playing lightweight guys in Europe, which says to me, he'd rather bring through kids than get the £40 million or so from 2 seasons Champions' League.

Another season and that could rise to £60million.

Neither John Collins nor John Hughes will be the next Celtic manager.
