Aye, I'd probably go along with that. If we're not counting Ajax.

I'd agree with him. He was our best midfielder anyway, and I've never rated him.

McGregor was the best midfielder on the park what's wrong with him saying that? It's not like he named GMS is it

McGregor was the best midfielder on the park because he was the only one that gave us a piece of genuine quality play.

Also hit the woodwork as well, off a deflection but he's scored plenty of those already in his short career.

Aye at first I thought Armstrong was having a great game but as the match went on he was involved in too many errors, too many passes not connecting with the recipient.

So between him GMS and McGregor it would have to be Callum, if his goal was a winning one I would've given him MOTM, it was pure class.

Mind you if Allan was on for the whole game he would've been the best midfielder if he was consistent because some of his play was sublime and he gave the team a real boost when he came on.

Tierney outstanding MOTM though with Forrest 2nd.

He showed for the ball all night and took his goal really well, was unlucky his mistake resulted in a goal, but apart from could see he has something about him.

Good feet, good technique and eye for goal. Don't get the hate for him.. Needs to be given a wee run in the team.

Disagree with Collins tho. Younes was the best midfielder on the park.

I would have said Klassen or Younes personally. But aye , we'll go with Mcgregor :87:

Ajax's CM's weren't that great either, misplaced a lot of passes their play was down to their front 3.
McGregor certainly stood out, tried to create things and always took on a player. Also got stuck in defensively fighting for it.

Agree with what you said, I though Armstrong started great too, the first 15/20 minutes he was running everywhere shutting down, carrying the ball forward playing a bit like Brown but then as the game went on he became sloppy and then faded away.

I think we messed up starting with Rogic sitting in midfield as he wasnt getting near anyone and Armstrong and McGregor could sense it so were trying to cover for him too much then by the time we changed to 4-2-3-1 with Rogic infront Rogic was done in, he had been doing too much running and was clearly tired so we wasted most of the game with the midfield not functioning well.

I thought Younes was the best player on the pitch in both games against us, but he's more of an attacking player than a midfielder, I'd say Collins was talking about centre mids.

I didn't really notice that much of the other Ajax midfielders but that's mainly because I just focus on our players when I'm watching our games, find it difficult to judge their players unless they really stick out.

Over the two games the two Ajax players who really impressed me were Tete and Younes. Tete because he had Forrest in his pocket and Younes because he caused Lustig all sorts of problems in both games and not many do that to Lustig.

    * Klassen and Younes.

I think it's fairly evident to everyone else he was talking about Celtic. Being the Celtic Assistant Manager and that.

Same for me, Younes is their best player for me. Can pass, cross, dribble, shoot quite well quite a consistant performer and good at cutting in from that wide area, we could really do with a player like him, only cost them £2million as well :54: he's reminded me of Maloney when Maloney played for us under Strachan and won POTY.

I think it's fairly evident that he meant best midfielder on the park . Because that is a direct quote. If he was talking about Celtic midfeider he would have said " he was our best midfielder last night " - saying he was " the best midfielder on the park " is clearly making the point he meant from both teams . Obviously .

You've missed out the word 'maybe' from his direct quote.

But who am I to get in the way of you twisting things to make a point?

So you can acknowledge the fact that when somebody uses the term " best on the park " it is widely known in football that that is a reference to players from both teams ? Or are you going to argue blindly about that to try and make an outlandish comment from our assistant manager seem reasonable ?

Except he didn't say 'best on the park'

'Callum McGregor came back in, played central midfield and was maybe the best midfielder on the park.'

As has been seen from this thread already not a lot of people argue with that statement.

So are you insisting that he is saying he was maybe the best celtic midfielder on the park or are you ready to accept that he said he was maybe the best midfielder from both teams ?

Four of us in this thread already disagree with that statement .

His quote is in black and white.

There's no need to get angry because you * up by expecting people to back your opinion when it turns out he was arguably the best on the park :56:
