    Unlike some of our ex players I cant remember ever hearing Collins say a bad word about Celtic, great player for us and always gave his all for us and Scotland, I think he comes across as someone who is pretty knowledgeable about the game as a pundit also, again, unlike some of our ex players.

    He was offered a new deal and knocked it back. Celtic were always hopeful he would change his mind. Alas, he ran his contract down and moved for money.

    Load of *. He moved because he wanted to play at a higher level and no longer for one of the worst teams we have ever had - if not THE worst.
    He was the only redeeming factor in the early 90s. Even McStay was past his best by then and they were both pushing water up hill.

    The fact he got more money from Monaco is neither here nor there. We were so * tight back then I'm surprised he still wasn't signing on on the side. Signing for first division English teams would mean higher wages to our players.

    In a nutshell.

    *, even Paul McStay was gonna go to Juventus as per the state we were in back in the 90's, and not one person with half a brain could hold a grudge against anyone for wanting to move on to bigger and better (at the time).

    Well said. :50::50:Thats the thing here McStays popularity meant if he did leave (Like Larsson) he would have remained a hero and rightly so. Bcos Collins done it hes seen as some kind of mercenary !! He gave us six great years of being a top player.
    I think both of them were unlucky at times with the amount of * they had to carry in midfield during the early 90's. It probably forced PM to retire early too !!
