He would be an asset. Great high level experience, tough and intelligent.

That was because the players were neddy wee fcks who didnt fancy having to work hard. Probably wanted them to do more than 18 hours a week.

    This would be great appointment.

He is never talked about much but he was a fantastic player, better than McStay for a couple of years. He has experience on the continent and demands high levels of fitness.

Would be very happy if JC was number 2.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
A lot of my uncertainty, to be fair, is conjecture-based. I'm happy to admit that, in the same way i'm happy to say i'm not overly averse to him coming in as No.2 either. Couple of concerns relate to the following, however. At Hibs, he won silverware....brought in * millions....developed a young squad......instrumental in evolving the training ground etc etc.

All good, I hear you say - and rightly.

So why (despite there being a later apology if I remember) did most of the playing squad go to the boy (*) Petrie complaining about him? Also, despite these successes, has it just been his own will to not progress in terms of management? Or was he deemed dangerous?

Questions that are conjecture, as I say - and I don't have the answer to them. They did leave me a bit concerned, however.

With any luck the good aspects ring true still, while the bad are either *, or deleted from mindset now. We just have to hope he can be a conciliatory force in the background, even with what I suspect will prove to be a pretty rigid set of behind-the-scenes rules. Deila sounds like a more embracing sort of guy.....do we want someone who perhaps may occasionally swing too far to the other side?

Let's wait and see, I suppose. Happy to give him a shot, for sure.:50:

CELTIC Football Club today confirmed that Celtic Manager Ronny Deila has appointed former Celtic midfielder John Collins to the position of Assistant Manager.
In an illustrious playing career, John made 229 appearances for Celtic from 1990 to 1996, also enjoying successful spells at Monaco, Everton, Fulham and Hibernian. John also collected 58 caps for Scotland and played in both the 1998 World Cup and Euro 1996 tournaments.
John has held managerial positions at Hibernian FC, winning the Scottish League Cup in 2007. He was also Manager of Charleroi in France in 2008 and appointed Director of Football at Livingston FC in 2012.
Celtic Manager Ronny Deila said: “I am delighted to appoint John to the position of Assistant Manager. I have had a number of meetings with John, I can see what the Club means to him and I can see the qualities that he will bring to Celtic.
"He is a first-class coach and has ideas on football which are very similar to mine so I am sure he will be a great addition to my team.
"He will start immediately and together we will now prepare for this first day of training next week. We have important matches in the near future so I am pleased that I have been able to secure him so quickly. Now we can get to work.”
John Collins said: “It is a huge honour for me to return to Celtic, the Club which has always been such a major part of my life.
"I am grateful to Ronny for giving me this wonderful opportunity and I look forward to working closely with him and the players to ensure that we can continue to bring the good times to Celtic.
"I know what a great club Celtic is and I know exactly what the Club means to our fans.
"I will support the Manager in every way and I am sure that together with our players, the backroom staff and the fans, we can all play our part in bringing success to the Club.”

Promising sounds from the outset - Deila certainly seems fair chuffed anyway. Welcome then Collins.

Main aspect i'm happy with is that it has been sorted in a decent timeframe. Leave no stone unturned; get preparing for the * qualifiers asap.

    How do you know?

Maybe Ronny wanted a Scottish/Celtic number two and interviewed a few candidates.

    Worked well for Wim Jansen.

    Welcome home JC.
