When the idea was first mooted, I was a bit nonplussed. I mean, hasn't he been out of the game for ages? On reflection it feels right though, doesn't it? Good coach in his own right, experience of how things are done in France and Belgium (and frankly the more innovative ideas we can bring into the club, the better). Plus he loves Celtic and, while I agree that being a "Celtic man" is not as vital as the media make out we think it is, that's a pretty good bonus.

I'd be very happy with Collins. I'd also be OK with Kennedy as first team coach, but I'd still really like to see Mad Maj back here as a coach, though.

Me Neither. Not just excited, either; I haven't felt this positive about a season since probably MON took over. Right Celtic, hang on to Van Dijk and Forster, give the GB back their section and qualify for the group stages of the CL...make it a perfect summer.

I will be happy if it is him (looks like it). Knows the club well, knowledge of the game is excellent and will help with the fitness side of things as well. He was also a decent manager himself so can assist Deila greatly.

Not sure about this to be honest. He caused a dressing room revolt at Easter Road when he was Hibs manager. Hopefully he's learned his lesson from what happened there.

I'm not sure you're correct there, Marky.

If memory serves me right, I seem to remember the players being upset that he left the club.

Nah, the players went behind his back and had a meeting with Rod Petrie because they weren't happy with the way Collins was doing things. I'm not sure what the exact issue was.

It did lead to this classic interview with Broony though. :smiley-laughing002:

We have a STRONG celtic connection in the backroom team and JK is being touted as a future manager with works he has been doing at Youth Level being noticed. JC was class as a player and for me , theres nothing wrong with preaching good healthy ethics to make players better.
And Deila is making all the right noises so far.
Agree with everyone exciting times ahead and "on paper" a real good management team.
    Hail Hail

That's the worry for me. Not that Collins looks as though he's going to be number 2 but that it seems that Peter Lawwell is pulling all the strings at the moment. Our team needs improved for Europe, my interpretation of the sound bytes are that Lawwell is tightening the purse strings.

For a notorious hard , he hasn't exactly been working that hard , a little bit of media work and a wee bit of youth coaching of underage football for the SFA doesn't look like notorious hard working .

I think it was over training, they thought they were being worked to hard in training.

Did he not do something mad as well by showing off his 6 pack to the players and telling them thats how they should look when he just took over :56: just remembered that there.

    Em, dunno about that :56::56::icon_mrgreen:

I think it was something to do with them saying he was working them too hard, but you need to remember the squad was full of immature wee wanks - Brown included.

Collins won them their first cup in * knows how long, i definitely remember them being gutted he left.

If J C John Collins is the J C Jesus Christ of football coaches why has he been employed so little in gainfully employment with any club in England or Scotland . Some people seem to be getting carried away the possibility of John Collins getting the number two job at Celtic .
If he gets the job I am afraid that R D will get it difficult to do his job and get his message across because to me John C. likes to hear his own voice and ideas .

My mate told me that the other day. Apparently he walked into training, taps aff and said 'peak fitness, boys - this is how you've got to be'. Knowing my mate he's no doubt embellished it a bit. :smiley-laughing002:
