Obviously, we're not their yet, but if we can get through the next game and into the League stages we'll be depending on a good draw. If we were to get a good group we then you have to think about making us even harder to break down, and more effective on the break.

The main thing is to add to the defense, we saw last night what happens if players in their pick up an injury, or get suspended.

I reckon a defender will come in, and we'll throw all the transfer money we want to spend on one. 2-3 million on a good young center half means we don't have to switch people around and play them out of position.

That's the No.1 priority. It has to be.

We can only play two strikers, and if want to sign more strikers someone has to get moved on from that area, so who would you move on, to make space for the boy from Dundee Utd.

I just don't see Hooper getting dropped, Stokes scored 21 goals last season and had 14 assists. He also didn't play as many games as Hooper. So Hooper - 29 goals in 50 games, Stokes - 21 goals in 47 games. So i don't get this "need" for a striker.

If a striker comes it'll be in January i reckon. If you add Watt to the mix, that should add up to a lot of goals. We have strikers who are natural goalscorers, but what we lack is an attacking midfielder to create the chances, a real flyer down the right hand side.

    This should be priority No.2.

I'm gonna fathom a guess here, and suggest that people would say "get rid of Bangura", and there have to be some serious questions about whether he can actually be fit to play ever again. Lenny will offload him, but we want the money back. For that to happen he needs to grow some nuts and start tearing into defenses like he did in Sweden. He's been the main disappointment.

We could send him out on loan and bring in another striker i suppose, and that might mean we could get him playing and attract the attention of another club.

The thing i like about Henriksen, is he is technically perfect for the role in midfield, technically gifted with good feet and he can go inside or outside, take the ball out wide and cut into the middle of the park. He also has an unstoppable shot. He played alongside Lustig and they have a good understanding. He can also play in the middle.

If we got him and the defender from PSV then we really will be set up for Europe and it might just give us a chance to progress.

this thought had crossed my mind also, and lets face it if we do sign someone it isnt going to be a top of the range player like were all expecting if we make the champions league ,
i would imagine it would be another gamble on a couple of young players

I hope we buy a defender but thats it..... no point buying players when we have a quality side at the moment.

All this negative stuff about not signing anyone whats that about? The biggest problem we will have is who will want to come to a poor league and the only real challenge they may have is the champions league/europa league.Lawell is a clever and astute business man and knows he has to keep his customers sweet i'm sure he's going to back Lennon as he's kept his side of the deal.If the Ki sale comes of champions league money, qualifying moneys and the real madrid game we are well over 20m.As far as i can see everythings rosey in the garden so lets get a grip.

I agree. The majority of quality teams have a sitting midfielder which helps the back four ,we did'nt have that so were exposed on a number of occasions.I would be happy with our present defence with Wanyama sitting in front but if we can get someone better then why not. Also as was pointed out we have a very young team and we have the odd moments of niavity which can show up in our game and we did look nervous,Big Dan could have been the answer?:52:

    we're not there yet.

we won't see any new faces until we know for sure, and even then we won't have a lot of time. hope we're poised to move quickly should we see it out next week.

If we're serious about The Champions League, then we have to take into account the money you get for a draw and a win - 800,000 for a win - 400,000 for a draw.

Losing a game costs you up to 800,000. Wins cover the costs of the new signings.

The games against Helsingborgs brings in 2.65million so i think this might be the kind of money that Lenny might get to spend. They could also decide to take 2 million from the Ki transfer and add that to the kitty, although this seems unlikely.

As we've seen before, the scouting system can do a lot with a small amount of money and it's worth adding to the squad, in an attempt to go for two wins and two draws,
    .... should we overcome Helsingborgs.

Two wins and two draws brings in 3.2 million that we could lose out on, if we don't add a bit of European class to the team.

There are so many unknowns about whether we'll get there, what kind of quality we'll face and what kind of luck will come our way in the games.

It's very unpredictable, but winning games adds to the valuation of the players, all the players.

So it makes sense to spend a wee bit, and take a gamble because at the very worst, we're still looking at The Champions League money, the Ki money, the season ticket sales for this season, the money for winning the league and possibly the cups, including the possibility of a run in the Europa if we ended up in there. Oh aye, and the merchandise and friendly games we played in Summer.

We just don't have the depth to handle all of these games, Lenny knows this and so do we. It's time the board got the finger out and backed the playing staff and the fans. We'll end up with players playing too many games and getting injured.

i just want signings that will improve the team i couldnt give a * if its a marquee signing just as long as it helps us win games and provides us with success at our club. All this talk of Rhodes and Russell as exciting as it all is we need to be realistic. For me i would be over the moon with Ambrose and a target man as long as they can come here and do a job for us.

+ about £55k a week added to the wagebill :56: probably about £3million a year with bonuses on top. Absolutley no danger of £11-12million being spent with a £3million increase to the wagebill.

Some * seem to want players signed for the sake of spending money and making signings.

The later in the transfer window we go the better players and value we will get as teams try to offload wouldnt surprise me if we dont sign anyone untill a couple of days before the window closes.

Same, Rhodes no doubt would score goals for us and be able to use his head. But the £5/6million talk is absolute madness.

Kris Boyd would score goals and score with his head too.

For £6million you'd want goals, heading ability, plus pace and good technique.
