It is absolutely crucial Vic starts in the midfield.

    Forster
    Matthews Rogne Mulgrew Emilio
    Wanyama
    Brown McCourt Ledley Samaras
    Hooper

Not the fixture for Commons or Forrest imo, that is solid and has plenty goal threat.

Need to set up right this time, I think Wanyama was completely wasted at CB, looked at fault for their goal and his absence allowed them too much time in midfield.
    Forster

    :brown:Wanyama:ledley:

Very tough to leave out Commons, I think he could be brought in for any of those midfielders, but I thought Forrest and Sammy just looked more dangerous tonight. Had we got them more involved in the wide areas we could maybe have done better. Felt Hooper was completely ineffective besides his goal as well, so put Stokesy in there.
Will be interesting to see how HJK line up, we all expected them to be defensive tonight, and frankly they parked the bus, which they may do again as they only need a goal and looked dangerous on the break. On the other hand, they know now that they need to score, and will be more confident at home, on astro turf, where they have a much better record.

That's the team I would play, think Brown will replace Kayal though. If we play that way I see a 2-0 victory, fingers crossed.

i think as long as we go out and try and win the game we'll go through,if we * about trying to defend it will end in disaster.
celtic cant play defencively its why we have such a trash away record in europe,we give teams way too much respect on their home soil,
    go for the jugular

    :56: You're a glass three-quarters empty kinda guy I see.

Fret not, we will be favourites with the bookies to win away from home, although of course a draw would see us thru as well.

I'm actually really not :56: I'm usually a fairly optimistic guy. Except when it comes to Celtic. i always fear the worst. Becuase i'm used to it with celtic unfortunately

I still believe Kayal is our best midfielder, even if we've not seen it a pretty long while. Get him back in the team, in replacement for say Brown (unlikely), or Commons, if we want to change the formation, and we'll prosper. *, I'd even take out Samaras and put Ledley wide left.

So, hopefully we'll do our best to get him ready. He's not the only football player on Ramadan. I'm sure we can do something to ensure he's sharp and match ready.

I'd like to see the following side:

    Forster

    Matthews, Rogne, Mulgrew, Izaguirre

    Wanyama
    Brown, Kayal, Ledley
    Forrest

    Hooper

BTW, when will Ki be available for selection?

Yep, unfortunately, Brown will be shoehorned in, and displace Vic. :54:

It's idiocy but, there you go. Fortunately, I think we'll survive the handicap.

What I would like to see is this:

    Forster

    Matthews Lustig Mulgrew Izaguirre

    Wanyama...........
    ......................McCourt

    Kayal

    Forrest................Samaras
    Hooper

The sturdiness provided by Vic and Beram would give space and protection for Paddy to create a deep-lying playmaker role - Padé Pirlo. :icon_mrgreen:

Commons and Ledley options on the bench.

No way should McCourt or Samaras play ahead of Ledley.

For me Izzy was weak in defence and cant be relied on for a game were we will need to be rock solid at the back. Think commons has a lot to offer, not just from open play but from corners and free kicks where his delivery has been superb which means he would get the nod before forrest who i thought was good tonigh. Bringing on forrest later in the game could work well for us in an away game though.

    would go with

    ------------------FORSTER
    MATTHEWS--ROGNE -------MULGREW--LEDLEY
    ----------------WANYAMA
    ----------BROWN--------KAYAL
    COMMONS-------------------SAMARAS
    ---------------HOOPER

Agreed. Ledley is one of the first names on the team sheet imo.

We'll win handily enough, I'd say. Not sure about predictions...I can see it being a similar score-line, despite us being away.

No way will Helsinki deny us a goal.

If we play 4-4-2 I think we'll lose. This is the team I would play............

    Forster

    Matthews------Rogne------Mulgrew------Izaguirre

    Wanyama

    Brown----------Kayal-------Ledley-------Samaras

    Hooper

It's not a formation I'd normally be in favour of but I'm fed up seeing us go away from home in Europe, lose an early goal and get beat. It's time to try keeping things tight for a change.
