I can't really disagree with this in honesty. This squad in my opinion would really struggle in the CL.

Not long back from the game, I think tonight we deserved the win, although it could have been more comfortable. Only 1 goal up and Helsinki got an away goal so it's not over. Still, at least we take a lead to Helsinki. I thought Mulgrew had a good game and was deserved MOTM. Can anyone shed any light on the penalty incidents? It looked to me like we should of had a few.

 

Honestly do not think we have done enough .HJK haven't lost at home since Oct 2010 think we needed at very least a 2 goal lead.

Izzy poor in defence big worry for me , Attacking wise fine but still well below par defensive .

Vic was lucky lad tonight silly challenge was a clear pen thank * it was not given , Never a centre back need to go out buy a real defender or you get found out like tonight .

When Commons went off we lost all ideas and dropped the tempo big time Stokes did nothing stupid change , Could see Commons was * off and had no injury .

Think Lenny was stupid taking off both strikers with still enough time to get the 3rd goal before the end .

Today proved we still lack that target man and a centre back for Europe.

No one is saying that. You won't take anyone's arguments on board. We know we are * in comparison but comparing us to great European teams is stupid. We are clearly not on the same level as them. All I know is we were the better team on the night by quite a bit and that makes me happy.

 

MrBall is a * and Helsinki are a nothing club.

 

We should have had at least 2 penalties, and that's on top of one they maybe should have had for Vic being a bit clumsy.

We hit the post and were very unlucky when the ball bounced off the keeper's head and went out, could have gone anywhere.

We put at least a dozen balls in the box which were horrifically dealt with by HJK, but because we have no-one who can attack a ball in the air we didn't capitalise.

It was good to see that they are worse at defending than us, many of you didn't think that was possible but it seems to be!

We conceded an unlucky goal due to
a) Izzy being off the pace and getting done on his flank, b) a good save from Forster sadly bouncing off Wanyama and straight to their attacker.

Then of course two of our players decided to foul each other in the box when we were gonna score another!!!

That combination of bad luck and * ups surely cannot happen again.

 

Plenty of folk disagree with me mate, but they are here through the good times as well to celebrate with me.

You disappeared in October last year just before we went on a winning run then resurfaced when we got pumped offf of Ajax.

I have respect for folk who take the good with the bad...

We dominated most of the game with a few sloppy bits of play but overall we dominated and HJK had no chance of winning that match. Them scoring helped us, as it made us come out and play and 15 minutes later we were 2-1 up, should have got a couple more if it wasn't for silly play that wouldn't have happened if we were up to match fitness.

I believe we will go over there with another competitive game under our belts and get ourselves through to the next round with ease, we just have to go out with the right tactics or we will end up in silly situations like Sion and Utrecht!

 

Look, you may have some valid points but when you come onto a Celtic forum and degrade our team, call it realism or whatever you want, people will rightfully stick up for Celtic. We know the strengths and weaknesses of our team far better than you, it is interesting to hear an outsiders point of view but the way you have put it across is a tad harsh and although Celtic are not immune from criticism, I think you are being slightly negative.

 

All I'll say is that we were as unlucky as Helsinki were lucky.

 

mate , were not making excuses , if we had played 17 games you would have been run off the * pitch , no disrespect meant . and on a sidenote , i dont hold any illusions of grandeur , i know were far from a european powerhouse , but to come on our forms and imo disrespect our team after only playing our first match ... leaves alot to be desired coming from a guest. your entitled to your opinion i just thought it lacked a little respect and class.

 

Yes you were the better team. And for people like you, who know their side isn't top quality in Europe, I bow down before you. You are a smart supporter of your own club, ups and downs included.

And I know I have started some kind of one-man-crusade. Every team, even HJK have supporters who think too much of their team.

And to those of you who suspect my Nationality, I'll write the same in Finnish.

We do this every season, everybody and their granny knows we need a CB and a Goalscorer, and also we should have the team playing longer to get match fitness, but we are well away from C/L standards, so if we get by next week it will be a mountain to climb because the quality will get even harded
