Some fair points there mate but a couple of things. If you win next week (to eliminate us) you do not go into the groups, there is another round to go.

Although I understand that you thought we would be much better (incredibly bad is harsh) but we are a work in progress in European terms. It was only two seasons ago that our manager had to build the team from scratch. Due to a * up situation Lennon had to literally build the whole team again.

I dont think many Celtic fans think HJK sucks. We know that only last season you defeated S04 2-0 at your place. It will be a hard game for us but we are confident of scoring. Hope you enjoy the match next week.

 

Ah, I see that conversation isn't really possible here.

I watched the game.
I know you dominated.
I know you had more chances.
I know this is your first serious game this season.

And as for the budget subject. HJK player's salaries are about 2000-4000 € a month. 200k is a huge amount we pay to sign a new player (Most signs are done with other teams in the Finnish league).

Comparing to HJK, yes, you are a good side. But comparing to Europe and the team Celtic used to be, you aren't near to be a good side. Mediocre at best.
A strong European side would've won today with more than 5 goals and made sure you won't have any trouble in the second fixture.

And I see that many of you acknowledge this. But to those of you who don't, get your feet back to the ground.

And again, please spare me from the HJK SUCKS messages (saw a couple already). All Finnish football supporters know this. Old news.

EDIT: and to you who said HJK is "very poor in all honesty", check out the last 20-25 minutes of the first period + the first 10 mins of the second period. I wouldn't call that very poor. We even managed to keep the ball for longer periods.

And yes, awfully bad maybe is taking it too far. But my point stands, as many of you want to think, you aren't a good european side. Fact.

Helsinki, were simply put, an absolutely horrendous team. I honestly think Kilmarnock could give them a testing game. Fortunately for us, we've never had to play Killie with a 20 game disadvantage in terms of preparation. It's not really fair that we had to tonight but that's football. MrBall, if you think we shamed ourselves you're wrong. We could, and should, have scored 4+.

 

What did we do after Rennes? Win the next 20 odd domestic games?

We should always be strong enough to win domestic games. It's only the SPL for goodness sake.
