I had a giggle at that one as well, I know as many Celtic fans in Austraila as I do in Scotland.

Canada, America, Ireland all have massive fanbases for ourselves as well. We have far, far more fans outside of Scotland than in it.

When we were selling out the stadium at least 5% of the fans were from the island of Ireland. This despite the distance we had to travel. 5 coaches regularly traveled from Donegal and many more made their own way.

Would say more than 5% probably about 20% the amount of Irish accents you hear at Parkhead is mental.

Probably better dealing with UK / Eire as opposed to whole of the world, and looking at percentages there. Bearing in mind we clearly have not a * clue about rest of the world going by some responses in this thread!

    I'd guess:

    England - 6%
    Wales - 1%
    Scotland - 65%
    ROI - 28%

    Thoughts?

    I would guess

    Scotland 45ish%
    Ireland 35ish%
    England 15ish%
    Wales probably less than 2%

Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland compared to Europe I would say probably 70ish% "here" 30ish% in other parts of Europe.

    Continents

    Id guess

    Europe 60ish%
    North America 20ish%
    Australia and round about 7ish%
    Asia 7ish%
    South America 2ish%
    Africa under 1ish%

    Probably something about that.

i wouldnt read to much into these because as far as i know these percentages are only based on fan club activity and you dont have to be in a fan club to support your team! i live and breath celtic but i have never joined a fan club

Our fan base in America is mental. In every big city you'll find a CSC and I know a lot of Americans like us purely because of their Irish heritage. Nearly every American that I have met that knows anything about soccer say they favour Celtic (even if they're not American Irish) and this is the same for English, Welsh, Europeans, Aussies and of course Irish. If we keep buying Asian players then I think our fan base in Asia will be there but never the same "7 million" when we had naka. For a club in small country and a pish league our support is incredible, if we were in the EPL we would be in the top 5 supported teams in the world.

I know * all Celtic fans in Dublin, one other fan in my year in school, thats about 150 people. Any Celtic fan I do know though is a proper fan and would know a lot more about the club than a Man United fan would about Man United.

Supporting Celtic is about real feeling for a club unlike the fake man utd, liverpool and other epl teams in the likes of the Far East. Someone running about in a man utd top in Korea for example has very little to do with real love/support of a team unlike the Celtic Support in Canada/USA/Australia etc... In USA alone Celtic can draw from upwards of 45 million North Americans who claim Irish/Celtic [k]/Scots identity, a lot more than any english team:50:

Its more than football, its a cause...

Hrmm.....have to say, I think that's largely * to be fair. It is a fitba Club, nae a * religion. For me, anyway. Not being harsh....just sometimes think folk go a tad OTT with this aspect.

Everyone has his or her own reasons and that is absolutely fine.:50:

I have no Irish or Scottish links and I am not religious, but I still go to CP for much more than seeing 22 men run after a ball (I can see that in Belgium or elsewhere (England, Germany, France - where the level of football is higher)). It is difficult to describe, but I feel part of something bigger at CP.
