By the way, I would never expect Celtic to walk straight into the EPL! I don't doubt we would survive in that league now but we'd be expected to start at the bottom, If we were accepted! Whether We want that or not is a different matter but surely that's the way it would be! And if it was ever something the club genuinely were considering, i believe it is now or never!

    Hail Hail

I’ve never understood why people think we’d struggle in the England if we were somehow randomly parachuted into the top league.

You know… we wouldn’t be playing with the same squad of players we have now.

We’d have millions to spend. Perhaps not the kind of money Man City have, but still a substantially greater sum that we could ever hope for while in the SPL.

We’d have a much greater option of sponsorship. No more would we be sharing with our lesser neighbours across the city. Many huge, multinational companies would be queuing up to sponsor us.

We’ve have a massive season ticket influx, and we could also make plans to expand the stadium – generating more wealth.

So between TV, sponsorship and season tickets. We’d have quite a large budget to play around with.

And of course, players would be attracted to our club, because we would finally be able to offer them competitive football – i.e the EPL, as opposed to the dreary two-horse (soon to be one) race in Scotland.

And then there’s our history. It’s fantastic as it is. But it becomes even more magnified on a bigger stage.

I’d have no doubts, that if were in the EPL, in our first season, we’d comfortably finish in the top 10 – and even that could be understating.

What you really mean is joining SKY TV - League.

We have achieved so much without the English league and at the end of the day - turkeys don't vote for Xmas - and why would they want to? Aint gonna happen.

This old BS question has to stop reappearing.

Why not apply to join La Liga, its as simple as that!

I have no interest in seeing Celtic move to the EPL. English football gets too much coverage in this country as it is. Too much focus on the English game is one of the reasons that crowds started to dwindle, and are still dwindling, in Scotland.

No we haven’t. We have been to one European final since 1970 (and even then it was the secondary tier)

And our fans now consider the last 16 of the CL an achievement. For an elite club like Celtic that isn’t good enough.

Yes perhaps... but that’s precisely the point! Being one of the last 16 teams in Europe’s premier competition is now considered an achievement because we realise we are pretty much limited in terms of finances. There is a glass ceiling for us.

We are condemned to perennial mediocrity while we remain within the Scottish league system.

There is no point pretending the EPL is going to go * up, it isn’t.

The newest TV deal is the most obscene yet. But there is such a demand for their product, that it will never go * up.

    We are constantly regressing though.

I’m not saying it is going to happen. I am saying, that it’s a shame it isn’t going to happen, for the benefits that could be reaped are extraordinary.

It's really simple. I'm not sure why some people can't seem to wrap their heads around it.

We are a Scottish club. The EPL is a foreign league.

There's as much chance of us joining the Bundesliga or Serie A.

Understand your sentiments - but as I said it will not happen. Just the same as we could not join La Liga - I think the I have made the point

I wont happen, as much as you would like it to unfortunately - so basically end of story.

So I would have no problem with playing in other foreign leagues.

We've been doing it for our entire history.

No, because we would have to start at the conference north or lower.

We are right now having great fun laughing at the death of the old huns, and at the predicament of the league-less new huns, so why the * * would we throw all our hilarity, stability and moral highground away by doing the exact same thing as them?

Infact, we wouldn't even get accepted into the conference north as there is a queue, we would have to take over an English club and work our way up, do you want Charles "incompetence" Green as our owner?!?!

Now is the time. Apply for the lowest possible league and build ourselves up.

i'd love it if we moved to the epl so we can show them just how big our club is because alot of clubs fighting relegation there seem to think they are a bigger club than us!!

    That's up to yourself.

Personally I think neither the Irish nor the Scots have the right to claim Celtic is solely theirs. The club belongs to both.

Celtic are a club formed in Scotland by both Scots/Irish benificiaries.

There can be no qualms about that.

Scottish club with an Irish identity.

Celtic goes beyond just being a "Scottish club" or an "Irish club" though.... it is one of the best teams in the world, the fullfill our true potential then moving to the EPL would be the best option for us.

We have massive support, from Scottish, Irish and worldwide.

For me Celtic is neither a Scottish or Irish club, they are similar to Barcelona, Barca fans do not really consider themselves a Spanish team... they just support Barcelona not the league or country they play in.

I agree with the majority of this, although the fact remains Celtic are a Scottish club - and on paper are a *ahem* British club :99:
