Stoke had spent the most money outwith the top 4 yet done nothing really with it.
They were overachieving at first, but when you are spending THAT much money and falling down the table things need to change imo

Mark Hughes is one of the worst managers in Europe. Hopefully relegating Stoke will be his last hurrah!

    Why is Hughes so bad?

Wales' best period in years was during his tenure when they got to the Play-offs. Was it Russia that beat them?

He transformed Blackburn into a decent Premier League side, and made some great signings for them. He finished 8th with Fulham in his only season.

When he had to integrate big money signings and mould them into a team he failed.

I thought he was a really good manager with Wales and especially Blackburn.

He's shown how pish he really is though when he has been granted millions upon millions to spend.

That's not exactly true. Hughes did pretty well at Blackburn Rovers and Fulham, there are some people who feel he was harshly treated at Manchester City. He did a pretty good job with the Welsh national team as well.

I'm pretty sure he was really good as Wales manager. I think they beat some top quality sides under him.

As Blackburn manager he was pure class. 3 full seasons, 6th, 7th and 10th, 2 FA Cup semi finals and 1 League Cup semi final.....Samba, Bentley, Benni McCarthy, Ryan Nelsen, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Warnock, Ooijer were quality signings, some of them sold for huge profit.....doing the double over United one season, their fans adore him.

    Fulham - did alright.

City - he can't spend money....Jo and people like that....but how much of that was Garry Cook etc.....he didn't do too badly imo.

QPR - I don't particularly rate Redknapp but he won what? 2 games. Maybe 3. It's clear nobody could have done a good job there. They had a new team each year, joke club.

Hughes is a good manager imo.

Depends what you class as good. Would you say he was better than Pulis, Allerdyce, McCarthy, O'Leary, McClaren, Bruce, Pardew, Hughton etc

He seems to have a decent reputation because people like him and he was a well known good player but hes a Championship class manager who keeps getting Premiership jobs.

Hes a decent manager whos managed bottom half EPL clubs and done a respectable job with most of them, done a good job with wales too. Calling him one of the worst in europe is an exaggeration considering the amount of failed managers out there most of which we probably havent even heard off, then youve got managers like paul jewell, ian dowie, roy keane etc knocking about who are far worse managers than mark hughes imo.

Pulis, McCarthy, Bruce, Pardew - yes

    Allardyce - probably.

    McClaren - no.

    O'Leary - * knows, it's been a while. Not at O'Leary at his best I would say.

    Hughton - young, we'll see.

Hard to judge though tbh. Because neither Hughton, Bruce and Pulis have ever managed a top half EPL side. Allardyce and Hughes were both at Blackburn and Hughes did a much better job, while spending less money. And a lot of Allardyce's best players at that time were originally signed by Hughes eg Samba, Nelsen, Dunn and Martin Olsson.

I'd say he has a decent reputation because he was really good for Wales and Blackburn and pretty good at Fulham.

He wasted money at City but there's talk of a lot of them not being his signings, plus they had Kolo Toure and Lescott CB which didn't work and cost them loads of goals.

It's not like the had the same standard of City squad that they have now, he didn't do really bad or anything.

Then QPR are a joke and not many would have done well there imo.

I like him, think he gets a lot of unfair stick.

My bird is a Blackburn fan and I know their team inside and out. With them, Hughes merks Allardyce. Bolton, yea Big Sam was really good but Allardyce at his best with them still doesn't beat Hughes at his best with Blackburn.

He got West Ham promoted through the playoffs with the best squad and the highest wage bill I think.

I'll stick to my original point but we'l see what his next job goes

That appointment would probably secure Lennon for us for at least another season, unless Stoke come in for him.
