It's actually when Martinez took the Wigan job in 2009 that these relegation fights really started getting bad, all he's ever done was just about luckily escape at the end of the season. He has won the FA Cup with them now though which is a miracle considering Wigan's team.

I don't rate him as high as others do as a manager.

They've lost a lot of good players over the years that its hard for them to replace Chimbonda, R.Taylor, Baines, Cattermole, Diame, Palacios, Valencia, N'Zogbia, Moses and Rodallega.

Imagine they never had to sell players and he could have just added to the squad they'd probably be some team.

    Al Habsi
    Boyce Alcaraz Figueroa Baines
    Diame
    Valencia McCarthy Moses
    Maloney
    Kone

SUBS: Joel, R.Taylor, Caldwell, Palacios, N'Zogbia, McManaman, Rodallega

They just never quite reached the level where they were safe and didnt need to sell their best players so could wait for big money, if bigger teams came in they always lost their player and had to rebuild.

Sevco calculator put to good use :56:

There was empty seats scattered everywhere. Id have guessed about 52-54,000.

I noticed the amount of empty seats too, but to be fair to them, they do attract about 60,000 for almost all of their home games throughout the season.

Only Man United can top that in British football.

Aye even diddy League cup games and that they usually get close to full.

Was tonight their last home game too? weird that their last home game and such a vital game, that about 5,000-8,000 never turned up. Might have been them snubbing Wenger? must be a fair few of them unhappy at winning heehaw.

About 3000 seats were not taken up from Wigan fans.

Plus people leave early when a game is settled due to the Stadium being served only by Train.

A lot of those empty seats in the first few rows are probably due to the weather, people getting wet and therefore moving somewhere else or sitting inside watching on a tv :smiley-laughing002:

If Arsenal win 2-1 at the weekend and Chelsea draw 0-0 then they will both be completely level on points and goal difference.
