For the all the years that Wigan were in the Premiership, they could have and should have strengthened and secured their position. Instead, every season they ended up in a relegation fight. Was only a matter of time.

The goalkeeper Joel shouldn't be too upset, he will be back to Atletico Madrid probably. Wouldn't be surprised if a Premiership team bought him, he has been brilliant.

I remember Whelan saying he didn't want us or Rangers in their league but that's probably because there's a good chance we would have taken their place.

I don't remember him saying anything bad about us though.

Oh yea and he liked Thatcher.

We might not see Wigan back for a while. Good chance Martinez will join Everton and theres basically no chance of McCarthy, Maloney or Kone going to the Championship, probably not even McManaman.

So they'll have some job on their hands to find a manager who will continue to play the same possession football and good players who will fit in.

I see a big exodus from wigan now including martinez, they done well to stay in the prem as long as they did.

McManaman would be a fantastic player if he could just work on his final ball.

I can see him joining a Prem side next season. Maybe even Everton if Martinez takes over there.

Can see it being a struggle for Wigan next year. A lot of players will leave. Although, the parachute payment will help them
