Well at least the story behind the phone call has been explained, I think.

The best we can hope for in all of this is that Thommo's memories of Celtic are not tainted, and that the support's memories of Thommo are not tainted either, that would be the biggest shame in all of this. Obviously also for Thommo to get help, if he does indeed need it, that goes without saying.

Sad news but hard to comment really before we know what's happened. If it's drink related then I'd like to think the club would have offered a bit more support, but we don't know if it's that or not.

At the end of the day when you're refusing to meet with your boss (who also happens to be your best mate) you obviously know yourself there's something not right.

I hope this isn't dragged through the courts.

what i can gather from the information given is that the meeting that Thompson refused to attend was going to be regarding his future, hence why Lennon had to do it over the phone.

i don't like all these rumours about Thompson 'drinking problem'. we don't know anything so i would prefer not to go react to things.

the fact that Lennon had to let him go suggests that it was something other than footballing matters though. i can't see these two falling out for something trivial such as not getting along as they are both professionals and friends.

Lubo, Larsson or Clarke to fill in for me.

all the best to Thompson and thanks for his services. if he needs help for personal issues, i hope he gets it.

he had twice as much ability as our current coaching staff combined so i'd think he'd have a thing or two to share. he'd be excellent for the AM/Wing players to learn from.
