How many games has McGeady played for Ireland...? How many of these games have been "big"? Keane, Dunne and Given have probably played 5 times as many big games for Ireland as McGeady has.

I thought he was alright in the qualifiers dont get me wrong, I just dont have him in the same category as dunne, keane and given when it comes to actually influencing games for Ireland. If I was asked which player would I drop out of the four, it would be McGeady without a doubt.

Lads im not saying those players arent game changers in general, i'm just talking biggest stage and constantly playing against great teams and great players.

McGeady's role in the team, up until now, has been to relieve pressure. We play in such a stifling fashion that he's not given much time to be a creative weapon.

Despite this, and despite his lukewarm international career, so far, I'd still consider him a game-changer for us, as he has the most ability.

Robbie keane has scored against Germany, France, Italy, Spain and that's off the top of my head. Dunnes performance was against a world class Russia side, they are game changers at that level.

Yeah I have Robbie Keane and Given as my two game-changers but Dunne isnt, he might have been in the past, but he currently isnt.

If you're suggesting Dunne is past it, you're very much wrong.

Don't think so tbh, he has played well every game I've seen him this season. Just because he's 32 doesn't mean he's past it.

He came on against Bosnia, fair enough a friendly and made 5 gilt edge chances.....

He is without doubt Irelands most creative player,

    * me, I've just read this conversation instead pf the bit I quoted. Aiden McGeady, the creative winger, doesn't score as many goals as the Robbie Keane, the greatest striker in Irelands history.

    Hang the *.

McGeady is absolutely amazing at his best..... no he doesn't score many but he creates a lot of chances.

McClean and McGeady on the wing will give any team nightmares.

And fvck it, I don't want us just to be there for the sake of being there. I want us to win the group!

Who cares if McGeady doesn't score lots of goals? Its not his job.

It's not Mcgeadys job to score goals, he's a winger, not a striker.

Spain will breeze through and rightly so. Hope the Irish come second. Will be a great achievement.

Ireland dont have any other creative players other than maybe Duff so that wouldnt be hard:56:.

All im saying is, I dont think hes as 'important' a player as Keane, Dunne or Given. Paul said in another thread I think that if McGeady doesnt play well Ireland have no chance, which I don't think is necessarily true, McLean could replace him and do well. But if we dropped Keane, thats our main goalscoring threat gone. If Dunne was dropped, our defence would be significantly weaker. Also if Given was dropped we'd be significantly weaker.

McGeady is a top player and I do think he'll be key to us playing well, considering he is our most creative player. Hopefully he has a good tournament.
