    He wouldn't have, his best mate told him exactly that. He was a 24 year old with a * record for Le Mans that develop late. It was impossible to tell what he would have become.

    Larsson, Sutton and Hartson were world class strikers.

    Instead of them playing for Chelsea, we could've had Torres and Drogba up front! :56:

    People suggesting Drogba wouldn't have got a game ahead of Larsson, Sutton and Hartson are pretty deluded. Drogba moved to Marseille instead, and within a few years was one of Europe's very finest players, moving to Chelsea for £24 million. As fine players as they were, there can be no comparison of Sutton and Hartson with Drogba. Larsson and Drogba up top - :35:! Still, bit of a non-story.

    No, but I'd imagine he has the benefit of looking at what happened when Drogba moved to Marseille. Destructive and world-class on a level that Hartson and Sutton never came close to. Obviously things may have been different if he'd moved to Glasgow, but class like Drogba has always rises to the top and to miss out on him (if this story is true) stings. None of this takes away from the fact that he is a complete *, by the way.

    He had the benefit of looking at what happened when Drogba moved to Marseille? Before he moved to Marseille?

    We can open a million threads about missed opportunities, at the time the majority of them were the right move. Drogba being one of them, seeing as we were never even interested in him in the *' first place :56:

    Your initial jab was at another post. You insinuated that the post was daft to specualte what would have happened, and to do so you would have needed a crystal ball. I responded that, although it would be speculative, you could make an educated guess at how Drogba would have turned out by looking at what happened to him when he moved to Marseille. The crystal ball comment was therefore, in my eyes, unfair, as you can make an educated guess at how it would have worked out by looking at Drogba's rise over the last decade.

    As for the value of weighing up the 'ifs' and 'buts' of a decade of transfers, I agree with you that it's futile (I said as much in both my posts), but it's also utterly harmless and fun. Kind of the point of forums such as these....

    If you have any snarky Chelski fans for friends, be sure to inform them of this. He learned from Celtic. Tell them "thank you" will suffice the next time they're on their high horse lol

    I have to take issue with those that say he wouldnt get in the team!!!
    Within a year of this, he went for £24 million!What does that tell you about his speed of development?
    Larson....top class;
    Sutton....very good utility player, and a good striker;
    Hartson....good on his day;

    With the exception of Henrik......none of the other 2 would get anywhere near £24m.
    I dont like the guy, but he is one of the best strikers in the world, and has been for almost 10 years!We could only dream of having his quality at the club right now.If he came here now, even at 34.....he could coast it till he was 40, and still be the SPL player of the year 5 years straight!
