    Exactly!

Question for you all - what preseason game do you think the team would benefit most from?

    A) A money-spinner in Boston, with a pro-Celtic crowd.

    B) Horsing Derry City 5-0, with a pro-Celtic crowd.

    C) A tight 1-1 draw away to Red Star Belgrade in a lively stadium.

    D) Getting battered 0-5 in the Nou Camp by Barca's toddlers.

I know what I'd go for......

C would certainly be as close to perfect as we could hope for. Maybe a Scandinavian team too.

If possible, playing a Scandinavian team before our qualifiers could be crucial, as they'll be in the middle of their season. Not sure if any of them would fancy a friendly, but we should at least make some offers. Maybe even to Larsson's club?

I think a tour playing 2/3 Scandainavian teams is a great idea and would be great prep for the CL qualifiers. Would't mind seeing an EPL team come up to Celtic Park for a game as well. maybe Swansea or Wigan.

Playing some Scandinavians could very beneficial, but difficult to arrange as you say. Thing with Landskrona is they are only a second division outfit. That being said, they will be already into their season...ideally, you would want someone from the Allsvenskan....Malmo for example.

Would love a wee day trip to England to play Newcastle or a game for Stan. And the game against Norwich isn't really pre season its a testimonial and it will be mostly the under 19s and the fringe players who will make the trip down there.

We should host our own wee tourney thing at CP like the Emirates Cup Arsenal have and that Wembley Cup we won a few years back.

You wouldn't be able to arrange friendlies with the decent skandanavian sides as they're already into their seasons, and will have far more important games upcoming. If Rosenborg came to us asking us for a friendly in say March, when the league is tight, I know we would tell them where to go.

Hoping to get to an away one. Decent away trip and a good excuse for the drink on the trip.

Not really that bothered about them though to be fair.

I enjoy watching preseason games. Get to see Celtic play different opposition, get a glimpse of what fringe or newly signed players are made of. Look forward to them, tho unfortunately Celtc TV doesn't always have video.

The only game that I know of so far is the testimonial v Norwich next week.

Also, is PremierSports contracted to show every friendly? I know they showed most of, if not all of, last season's pre season (excluding Dublin). Plus they are showing Norwich v Celtic on Tuesday.

Funny we were supposed to play Chelski in New York, and that was botched. Now it looks like a meeting with Chelski in Limerick is falling through too.

Of all the differences between North American professional sports and European sports ... this is the one that baffles me the most.

Year after year, Celtic's pre-season plans (Australia, anyone?) make absolutely no sense, and often seem(ed) to be a motivated by one factor: money. That's not right.

Why not engage in a proper pre-season ... SPL vs. SPL, with MAYBE a few other non-SPL fixtures sprinkled in? But, these stupid, back-of-the-napkin plans, do NOTHING to help the club in the long-term.
