Has anyone else happened to get attacked by this piece of * ?

Wife was using a spare computer,no virus protection on it at all and now this Virus has locked it.

Anything i can do to get rid of it ?

  2. Try boot up in safe mode (F8) select with networking, connect to the net and download Malwarebytes.. run the scan delete and then reboot

I've not had this one but have had some nasties.

If Malwarebytes doesn't work try AVG.

If it won't let you access the net in safe mode, you may have to reinstall your OS

Found this online if it helps.

Enter safe mode (press F8 at boot). In start menu enter 'search'. Search .exe files and identify file created at time of virus entry- it will be long random number (EXAMPLE 0.4998473.exe). Often found in the system32 folder and is most likely the only .exe consisting of a long number. Delete it- if you are nervous remember it can be restored from recycle bin. Reboot PC/Laptop. On successful resumption of Windows delete that file from your recyle bin.

Then get your spare computer some kind of virus protection. Lots of free ones around also but can you not share the AV you have with another computer? I'm no computer guy so best ask someone who knows which are the best to use if going for a free AV.

Whenever I get a virus I just do a system restore. Works everytime.

Safe mode with networking and download malware bytes and rkill, install and update mwbytes.
Run rkill (takes about a minute) then run a full system malwarebytes scan.

It probably just attacks your computer when your downloading files then. Or when you visit sites cause your still downloading stuff. Never had it but it sounds quite nasty and by the sounds of it, not a lot you can do if you don't have anti-virus.
