GMS is worth a lot more than 800,000. We are being far too biscuit tin about this. He is a 2 million quid player IMO. We arent coming down with left footed wide men who are natural wingers IMO. He would be a good buy but we cant expect to get him for much less than 2 million. If we can then great but I think 2 million is a fair price and wouldnt baulk at that.

The problem is we don't have £1million for a player, never mind 4.5 for these two, 3.5 for Henriksen etc. So we can offer what we can afford.

We have lots of midfielders, and strikers, but what we really need is another defender. This is the area that we are short in.

When Mowbray was the manager, he burnt a lot of cash. Then when Lenny took over he was given a budget and backed quite well by the board, but we weren't financially in a position to pay 3million + for players. That hasn't changed.

We seem to be saying, this player is worth this amount, that player is worth that, but nobody seems to be buying any of our players.

We also want to spend the money we'll get in Europe and Europe hasn't even happened yet. We don't actually have that money, and we don't get it until the competition finishes.

Se we have to be realistic about how much we can bid for players and go for players round about the £800,000 bracket.

Lenny has come out and said we won't be signing anybody, even if we get to the group stages. What we will have is a bit of a warchest next Summer or possibly in January.

Gms will go for around £1m /£1.5m due to his contract , I think Russell will be £2m /£2.5m pushing £3m

I think they might because you can't buy anyone in England for £2million. To them it's a bargain, to us it's a lot of money and money we don't need to spend to win the league.

If and when Rangers come back into the league, and if they get big investment, then we need money. So it looks like we are going down the road of saving money, offering improved contracts and protecting our assets to ensure they stay a bit longer, we have that continuity and at some point we will get the money that we think these players are worth.

It's frustrating, but it's the sensible thing to do, as long as we qualify for The Champions League. If we don't the board will have made a huge blunder and shown a lack of ambition.

I like both these players, they'd be good, possibly amazing signings but we won't be getting them because we have knocked back 12million pounds for Hooper and Ki, and that money could have financed all these signings.

It's a bit of a catch-22. Me personally, i'd have sold both of them, simply because if Hooper plays rubbish in Europe his value might not rise, like we hope it will.

You look at each player, look for a 300% mark up on their sale, sign another player and hope to do the same. You could be waiting some time for a 12million pound bid for either of these players.

Get Russell signed before other * want him and he ends up going for £3million, going to end up another Fletcher situation.

Wouldn't mind buying him on the cheap and offering Huddersfield a direct swap, haha.

Russell's goal today made "Goals of the Day" alongside Samir Nasri's winner on Fox Soccer Channel's facebook page. Nice bit of PR for the league, as they have 1 million followers, virtually all in the US I'd imagine.

I haven't seen enough of him to know if he's a marked improvement on what we have (if he's not, no point in signing him). With our limited budget, should only be signing players that walk into the team every week.

Part of me hopes he stays at Dundee Utd. I care about Celtic first and foremost, but I hate to see us cherry-picking talent that already exists in the league. We're the only club capable of considerably improving the league's talent pool, with our expansive network and resources, so I'd rather see us utilize that than take the odd gem another club here unearths. We need to be somewhat pushed domestically to have any hopes of upping our play a gear for Europe.

Russell is getting better every season.

Hes a player with no fear, similar to James Forrest.

We need to make an offer before an English club comes in.

Russell would love to sign for us.

We could always offer them a squad player as part of the exchange or a couple of the younger guys on loan for the season so they get more experience. It would be a win win situation.

Would offer them 1 mill plus Slane/Watt on loan.

They need to sell this window if they want any money.

    Slane yes, Watt no!

Right now I see Watt as our 3rd ST

After all the goalless due of 'treatment room' Bangura and 'please just leave' Murphy are certainly not!

And we all know Sammy is NOT a ST!!!
