Ki is a cracking player and proven goalscorer from midfield, but as too many people say he goes missing in games but its usually games where majority of the team has went missing, Ki takes too much stick for my liking but I hope (if he leaves the tic) He goes on to show himself as a class midfielder..... sometimes I just wish the scottish game was slower and less aggressive to let technical players show their full potential but sadly its no, go on Dave!!!

There is players who arent as good as ki. Off of the top of my head cha. But nobody comes on and says cha has this greeat technical ability and an eye for a pass or running into space. He doesnt deserve the plaudits he gets for "tidy" passing or "bossing" midields. If this wasnt happening this thread wouldnt exist. But obviously everyone has different styles they would like to see celtic play.

my point was alot of critiscism is unwarranted, if Ki plays an Average game, no different to half the men on the park hes "an empty shirt", which is just bollocks half the time

the amount of times Ki has had a decent game, but stilll gets criticism is unreal, ALSO when he has a good game, theres always someone who makes it into a negative......"why cant he do that all the time?" "too inconsistant" when really they should just be saying "well done Ki, good game"

If all Ki done was tidy passing then he wouldnt be so high on the goals and assists charts

I don't think it is unfair, but then again we differ in opinions.

Only thing that would be unfair would be to suggest that Ki is the SOLE reason why we lose games - I know venglos used stats to say we lost more games with him in the team (or something to that effect), but I think he was more throwing that stat out there in the argument about Ki's positive stats.

Spot on - well, it would have existed but I'm sure it wouldn't have lasted as long as this.

There have been plenty of threads on the likes of Cha, Majstorovic and even recently Kelvin Wilson - were they have ALL been slaughtered by the majority on here I think.

Stats are very misleading at times in my opinion - absolutely hate them.

Well, you and others and others are forever going on about these statistics (that btw I have never seen) and will most probably be in games that I have seen him do very little with my own eyes.

As I say - generally, I feel that stats can be misleading (or over-hyped)......just off the top of my head...Kris Boyd better than Larsson:56::56::56::icon_mrgreen:

that is a misleading, because the stat used to back up the claim is weak, in reality, goals to games larsson far outscored boyd, so thats not a great example of how why Ki's stats are misleading imo

But statistically, Boyd scored more goals in the SPL.

I'll explain this again, I have not seen any stats on Ki or anyone else - I do not care for them in all honesty - for a GENERAL EXAMPLE - You could tell me that a player scored a goal and set on up.....great, but he may have done * all for the rest of the game.

Now, I am not just applying this to Ki, this goes for all players.

I judge players by what I see with my own eyes on the park, rather than what I see on a computer screen or a bit of paper.

And quite frankly, I don't care if anyone thinks that is weak or whatever :50:

if you think in judging Ki on the stats i see then your mistaken, of course in judging him on what i see on the pitch, which isnt the Masterful playmaker some make out, but its also not the lazy liability that others claim

if you watch Ki, then he does as much closing down as your average Midfielder, just as much as Wanyama probably, it just so happens we have workhorses in Brown, Ledley and Kayal that makes it look like Ki doesnt run enough, but watch your average CM around the world then keep and eye on Ki and he'll do as much running, he isnt a liability in that sense, maybe he isnt the best tackler in the world, but condemning him for lack of effort imo is wrong

that said, he isnt a player who will thread a needle with a pass time after time, he'll do it very ocasionally, more than out other CM's, but yeah not as much as is made out, but he doesnt pass it sideways and backwards asmuch as made out, and even is he does, its to retain possesion, watch a team like barca, the amount of sideways passing, to 1. retain possesion and 2. manipulate the positioning of the oppsition, is unreal, but as i said,is not all sideways passing, he often plays a forward pass into a strikers feet.....to a winger/fullback in advanced positions.....or i through ball between the opposition CB and RB/LB doe a winger or fullback to run onto.

to me Ki is a player who keeps the ball very well, moving it on, being very tidy(which seems to have become a bad thing in this thread, being tidy isnt a bad thing at all) and chipping in with a few goals and assists, a good few times this season, Ki has been brought on in the last 20/30 mins id we are holding a narrow lead, to steady possesion of the ball and more often than not we do gain a bit more control of the game.

Hes not world class, hes not awful, hes a good player whos an asset to our squad......thats all taken from watching with my own eyes......not stats
