You're giving them way too much credit. As another poster said, if they were from Europe they'd struggle to qualify for any tournament.

I dont think they would, I think they would qualify. They're probably better than Greece, Ireland, Croatia, Sweden, Portugal, Denmark and the Czech Republic.

Portugal? :97: I'd say they're on a par with Greece, and inferior to every other team on that list.

They've lost their best player & talisman in Park aswell remember. Some have an over-inflated opinion of them because of what they done 10 years ago IMO. They're ordinary.

They're not ordinary theyre a very good team. They are a very good attacking team and keep possession for fun. If they were to play Portugal in a tournament my money would be on South Korea, same with the other teams I mentioned. On their day too I think they could also beat England, Italy or France.

    I think your under-rating them.

I think along with teams like Uruguay, Mexico and maybe Russia they'd be outsider teams that could get to a semi of a World Cup.

Maybe but imo I would say theyre about the 15th best International team.

Gaz said they've lost Park their best player too, personally ive never thought Park was up to much and hes not a player they'll miss.

Ki, Lee Chung Yong and Koo Ja Cheol are their best midfielders and "Ki" to their possession and attacking football. The other players are mostly all comfortable on the ball and they have a few guys with great pace to do the damage.

I would say they were a good allround team like a Uruguay, Mexico or Russia. Hardworking, good level of ability and probably most importantly they are a confident team who think they could beat anyone and never seem to be nervy or anything.

Portugal have good players but I wouldnt call them a good team. Too many individualists like Pepe, Meireles, Nani and Ronaldo and they're poor possessionally.

If they were to play I think it would be close but I think Korea would edge it. All hypothetical though.

Portugal have better players, they aren't exactly a good team at that level though. Similiar to England.

I honestly feel they are even, South Korea has been further in a Tournement than they have in the last 10 years anyway.

Even if that was a farce.

Have to agree on all of this it is very well said and without making Ki sound like the best CM in all of Celtic's history it perfectly sums up why Ki should get more credit were it deserved.

After all Lennon has the only real evidence on a day to basis to comment on Ki's abilities

Just to clarify I'm an American and I have no interest in the Scottish national team so its not bias speaking when I say I believe Scotland are a better team than South Korea. I also believe that Scotland are a better team than the United States at the moment. I don't care where the teams are ranked in a useless ranking system. All the rankings systems operate in similar fashions, they give far to many points for wins against poor opposition while doling out very few points for draws against respectable opposition. The systems underrate European and south American sides while overrating Asian, African, and North American teams.

Comparing South Korea to Portugal is madness, If I picked a starting eleven from the two combined national teams there wouldn't be a Korean in the side. I also don't think they compare to any of the other teams you mentioned aside from Greece.

First of all I'm astonished that anyone can rate the Scotland national team as half decent in any respect. True, we have some half decent individuals.

But for the past (almost 20) years now, we've had less than zero success. It's been one humiliation after the next. Furthermore, our most "successful" run of matches involved Walter Smith inspired "anti-football".

Your ending point is exactly what the ELO rankings are set out to achieve. A win against Brazil vastly, vastly outweighs a win against Leichenstein.

I was only joking mate - don't be too harsh on them :56::56::50:

Loved it when South Korea knocked Italy out in 2002 - was even funnier when Perugia sacked the Korean guy who scored the winner :56::56::56:

Anyhoo - anybody know how long le Ki is out for?
