Neither can Ki, he has had three years and still has come up short.Ki's days at Parkhead are over I sense.

Dylan McGeough is the face of the future.

Yes i know but we with that kind of midfield always have and always will struggle against packed defences, not saying Ki is the be all and end all answer to the problem but we do need someone of that ilk who can split that kind of defence.

Someone of that ilk perhaps but not him. He can't open any defence never mind a packed one, just slows the tempo meaning we struggle to even get our wingers in behind at times when he plays.

Commons, , Ibrahim (from what Ive seen) and paddy are the type of midfielders to do that.

We couldn't get commons enough on the ball today though, most of our attacking was from the wings and crossing.

Poor memory then tbh. He's played quite a few balls that I can remember to the overlapping fullback down the channel in between the opposition CB and FB, most often to Cha. If you want to talk about a left to right passer then Joe Ledley is your man.

Ledley's pass to Sammy in the OF game last year split Rangers apart, I can never remember Ki playing a ball of that quality.

Lots of misinterpretations surround Ki, some positive, some negative.

The nay-sayers say he is lightweight, he can't tackle. While he has nothing on Wanyama or Kayal, he's not the feather that some claim he is. He puts in challenges when he needs to.

The people who overrate him refer to his technical skills, his eye for a pass. Again, he has nothing on the likes of Nakamura, his passing is generally good. Celtic cry out for a playmaker, but I don't think Ki is the answer. His passing is good but it is rarely incisive or chance-creating. He's clearly an intelligent footballer but if he has the footballing genius of Nakamura or Moravcik, it's passed me by (forgive the pun).

What we have in Ki is a perfect squad player. The term 'squad player' kindles up thoughts of 'averageness' and 'fringe'. Ki is above that, but only slightly. He's composed enough for me to trust him in a starting 11, but he lacks the quality, for me, to have a permanent place in the side. If he remains at Celtic, let it be as a utility man, a rabbit to pull out of the hat now and then.

Maybe in the future he will live up to the potential some see in him. I wish him all the best in that endevour. Meanwhile, I do hope he stays and takes his chance when Lennon grants him centre stage.

    Thanks for listening

    Another myth....

He is supposedly the unlocker of defences? I can recall Commons playing a dozen through balls in the last half a dozen games and you are lucky if I can recall Ki making 2 the whole season.

He is a safe passer of the ball, having Ki playing today would have done nothing more than maybe up the possession stats another 2% because he doesn't drive at opponents nor does he play the ball over the top, despite being capable of both.

Highlight of the season for me was that defence splitting pass by Ledley.
How many more opportunities can Lennon afford to give Ki when he has played almost 100 games for Celtic over a three year span, and I defy anyone on this forum to argue against this season being Ki's worst season. We have an array of midfield talent at Parkhead now, and both Ledley and Commons can provide that creative spark from the centre of the field, not to mention McGeough, so surely if we get a reasonable offer for Ki we should accept it, and buy that bruiser at centre back we need with the money. It is a no brainer to me.

I'm not knocking Joe's overall quality but if you want to compare Ki and Ledley in terms of side-ways passes then Joe wins hands down!

thats a decent pass but not the same quality as Super Joe's pass against the huns. Personally I have to disagree with you imo Ledley doesn't pass sideways as much as Ki.

you arent talking about the 2-0 game at Ibrox where he just booted the ball upfield and sammy was first to it, then mcgregor came 30 yards out for some reason

it was a perfectly weighted pass which couldn't have been hit any better, far from an aimless punt up the field.

I can't see how you can say Joe's pass is better... Anyway- that's besides the point. I was just trying to show Kemo that Ki can and indeed does play some very nice forward passes.

Joe's pass was by far better than the one of Ki's that you posted.

But, that said - I have seen Ki play a few defence-splitting passes, so I know that he has that in his locker.

And, that being said, Paddy McCourt was producing the type of defence-splitting passes (in his last outing) that any Celtic player would have been proud of.
