No chance he's won Asian Player of the Year this season.

As much as I know he has under-performed this year, even winning this pushes his transfer fee up somewhat.

At 21, having x amount of appearances for club/country - along with this accolade, (as well as the potential marketability of sales in Asia) I would expect a good return on him.

Even with the over-inflated views of English football, if teams can demand money like £12m for a dumplin like Carlton Cole - I would think we could demand at around half the amount for a more accomplished player.

If we get decent/good performances from Mr. Ki in the Champions League next season (as well as domestically) - I would value his contract at closer to the £10m mark.

I would agree which is why i think its stupid to think about selling him in the summer.

If we were offered near e.g. £6million in the summer then, personally, i would bite the hand of whoever it was.

Of course, his rateable value increases significantly IF he were to perform in Europe next season (and any international games/competitions?) - but that would be a gamble on a player who IMO is not even guaranteed a starting position - considering "Captain" Kayal is on the road back.

Although, if we did sell - I'd be expecting Lawwell to add in a future appearance/transfer clause into his outgoing transfer :50:

He also brings money into the club with shirtsales and sponsorship in Korea.

The problem is that he only has one year remaining on his contract and will almost certaintly not sign a new deal on the same wages. He hasn't performed well enough to earn a raise so personally I think he will be sold. Unless we plan on resigning him and we are relatively certain he will sign a new deal we should sell this summer.

If a manager has the football intelligence of many of the posters in this thread then he would expect to be paid to take on such a liability.

Any team willing to sign and play Ki will go rapidly downhill. Worst player in history.

Out midfield for Europe will be Wanyama sitting just behind Ledley and Kayal.

    This.

If Ki is going to get playing time in Europe next season, it will probably out of his "position" imo.

True but I would think he is last in the central midfield pecking order behind Brown, Ledley, Kayal and Wanyama for Europe and in the SPL.
