What do you mean classic line from me?

To scapegoat someone is to blame one person for something - I haven't seen anyone saying that we have lost solely because of Ki?

I certainly wasn't happy he was injured (wouldn't wish that on any Celtic player) - I was however happy that he didn't play.

Commons has been rotten this season - only over the last few games has he shown glimpses of his old self from last season - don't know what that has to do with Ki mind you

 

I'd imagine he is not first pick because Lennon rates other players ahead of him for certain matches.

Whether he is first pick or not does says little about his ability as a footballer. I'm not sure why you think it does.

 

Dr Venglos comes pretty close to it.

 

Check Doc Venglos post a few up, it's Ki's fault we lost the league last season. That is scapegoating of the highest order.

The commons comparison illustrates the need for a consistent run of games to get up to speed and gain consistent performances. I suggest you take a look at some of Dr.V's posts who would tell you that the reason we lose matches, the reason we lost cup finals was because of Ki. He completely forgot Ki didn't even start the match but came on after 60 mins, but then he proceeded to blame Ki for losing the match even though when Ki came on against Killie we improved dramatically.

Can you not see the contradiction in your post?

You claim that you never said being first pick is related to footballing ability, whilst in the very same post ask, if he is as good as his fans say he is, then why is he not starting every game?

I'm not one for taking interest in statistics etc. but has Ki not started far more games than Commons? Again, Commons has been utter pish up until about 2-3 games ago - so he does not escape criticism, even though he was excellent yesterday.

From a personal point, I just do not see a helluva lot that Ki offers to the team. looks a player who has good attributes i.e. passing and the occassional thunderbolt shot - but for every positive I can think of, I can think of at least double the negatives i.e. particularly slow tracking back, * corners, * free-kicks etc.

Not for one second do I wish for the guy to fail at Celtic - would love nothing more than for him to live up to the hype - just don't think it will happen.

As for Venglos - I don't see any posts where he specifically blames Ki for defeats alone - seen him mention that he was playing when we got beat, but that isn't the same thing (although, if proved otherwise then here is my pre-meditated apology)

I think if you were to stand in any Celtic pub in Glasgow, I reckon you would find the vast majority of Celtic fans see Ki as an empty shirt, and he has been an empty shirt for three years now. Only a small rabble of purists I reckon would disagree.

 

Haha, but the question you are asking - about Ki not being first pick - rests on the assumption that there is a relation between ability and selection. If you are not making this assumption, then what is the question designed to prove?

 

Indeed a balance is needed. But, it does not need to be contained in one player. One player can do the dirty stuff, the other can involve himself with technical aspects.

Ki never had a weight problem in the first place- he doesn't get excess weight because he keeps himself fit. He's quite athletic too, an image posted in this thread shows it. The problem with him is kind of linked to the bolded part of your statement. Would you be less concerned about being tackled by Ki than Commons? Question to you and anyone else who might want to reply.

Ki is obviously a decent player, much has been said by Lennon about him.

I certainly don't agree with the over-inflated views of some posters on here about his abilities.

Again, my question was not aimed about Ki, more about the over-hyped views on him i.e. if he is so good, then why has he not started every game?

 

I would rather be tackled by Ki than Commons, yes.
