We have performed poorly with Ki in the team this year when we weren't dealing with an injury crisis.

Your right, we are all guilty of it. Up one week and down the next. Ki does get criticism, and I am one who gives it to him. My gripe is not so much whether or not the team wins or loses or how the team plays, it is with how he plays himself.

I expect more of him given the hype and claims made around his ability and talent. I have only seen it in glimpses and can anyone honestly say he has improved since he came here?

The same people who say we need to give him more time are the same that state he is a Korean international and Asian player of the year so what is it? He is either an international or he is promising?

Personally I think he has had more than enough chances, approaching 100 games, and we should try and recoup our transfer fee for him. Im not happy he is injured, the same way I dont want any of our players out as it weakens our side.

Yeah maybe, but after 40 odd internationals and almost a hundred games for us, the promising excuse is a bit tiresome. At what point do we say, enoughs enough, he isnt improving. Which he isnt in my opinion.

The fact he doesnt seem keen to extend his contract either would suggest he is also looking to move on.

This isnt me ripping the * out of him, but he wont be missed as much as some might think.

I think Ki has got unbelievable talent, that goes without question, but I'm not fully convinced he is cut out for Scottish football. I think he would be a massive hit with a team like Liverpool, would fit in nicely with their style of football, and the English League. I hope that an English team comes in for him in the summer, and we can secure £6 or £7 million for him, but I would only want him to go, on the condition that we got the full money to invest in our team

I've always liked him, but even I am getting turned onto the idea of selling him. We could sign a player that is just as useful for half the money we'd get out of any transfer sale.

I haven't thought Ki fits our team for a long time consistently. That doesn't by any stretch mean he doesn't have good games, he does and I think he is a good player. The problem with him is that his failings are highlighted in a two-man midfields within a team who play a fast-tempo game. I think his best position is the one he plays for South Korea, sitting and spreading play akin to Crosas. The problem is that he would need an enforcer next to him to do the jobs he cant't, something our set-up doesn't allow for. Ledley, Brown and Kayal can all play together, whereas I think Ki needs a Wanyama to be at his best. This would limit the runs from midfield and support work needed to play two strikers, which we almost always do. I think he is talented and we could get a good bit of money for him so I think we should sell to afford a good quality striker.

I doubt we will get £6-£7M for Ki now, we will be lucky to get £4M now as his star has fallen and he has only been a bit part player for us this year. The reason for that has been Ki himself, he has been given 100 games with us spanning three years now and he has failed to stake his claim for a regular first team slot, that is Ki's own failing nobody else's.Dylan McGeouch is the heir apparent for Ki's role, and McGeouch is already showing flashes of his intent and talent in only a few sub appearances never mind a 100 games.

    100 games my * :56:

He's had 85 appearances, a large amount of which have been from the bench.

Will also throw in that a lot of Ki's good points are conveniently carpeted

    For example:

Has more assists than Ledley, and just one less goal (yet has started 6 less games)

Has more goals/assists than Brown or Kayal or Wanyama. (Better per game ratio of course)

Has same assists as Mulgrew (who has played as much at LB as he has at CB)

For all these stats he's probably given the least consistent time on the park. As in, rarely gets a decent run.

    ----

This isn't a direct criticism of any of the above. It's just going by the critics on this thread you'd think Ki contributes ZILCH to matches. It just ain't true.

Ledley, Brown and Kayal are for me, similar types of player. All bustle/fight/energy. In Scotland this is admittedly probably the priority in your midfield or you'll get stepped on.

However - you need an alternative midfielder. Someone who can slip the ball about the park, smart possession based passes. Lot's of technique and intelligence. I'm convinced most of the critics are overlooking this. They see (the other 3) midfielders and think Ki should be doing that - running about winning the ball, etc.

But he shouldn't. For once we have a midfielder who can play a bit and I think we need to do more to appreciate his talents. Sick of the scapegoaters at CP and online whose first reaction is to slate KI even when other players are far worse.

Reminds me a bit of the Sammy situation. Forget the 5/6 other players serving up dross - target the scapegoat!

talent/technique and energy/drive aren't mutually exclusive though, just because he occasionally plays a nice pass doesn't give him license to lazily jog around the park. I'm not expecting him to become Kayal or Wanyama but a bit of effort every now and then would be appreciated. When Ki is in the team we suffer because his lack of workrate leaves our defense very exposed.

Scott Brown is crap. He shouldnt get a game. Give me Ki any day. We could have done with less winning tackles and more square passing. Dont get upset its only my opinion and every person I talk to who go to the games agrees.

I dip in and out of this thread and cant believe people believe that Ki is good enough for a game never mind better than our captain(who had 50000 people chanting his name more than once today). He wasnt missed today and wont be in the future if he moves on.

Best laugh of the day :bbpd:

Our captain Scott Brown is head and shoulders above Ki in every department.

Ki is now surplus to requirements

You have completely contradicted your original opinion there. Originally you said broony is *, now he isn't?
