I really think we should just give Janko a shot at it.

I rate him. Everything is there for him to be a top modern day full back. All he needs to do is brush up on the defensive side of his game slightly but that will come.

Being * at Sunderland. Wouldn't have him back tbh. Made up * about how playing in the SPL was detrimental to his international chances when in reality it was his poor form.

Aye, Matthews was on the downward spiral at us. Wasn't sad to see him go.

Yep. Call me bitter but I hate when players leave with comments like that.

If that's the attitude you can forget about the Champions' League. Lustig's not got the pace for top level football and he's made of glass. Janko spent almost the whole season out injured. Ambrose is getting the boot.

So, you need to consider the worst case scenario, Lustig and Janko get injured, we're in the group stage against Real Madrid and you're putting Ralston up against Ronaldo.

Lustig's one of those guys like Commons we should have moved on a couple of seasons ago. Neither of them are up to the pace of top level football and the wages could be better spent trying to put the best defense we can together.

I'd punt both Commons and Lustig, go down to England and do a big deal for a pacy right back who's got more to offer than Lustig's ten crosses a season. He's not utter garbage, but going with Lustig in Europe won't even get us past the qualifiers, if we get a tough draw in the last game.

I know he had a poor final season for us, but otherwise was excellent. I often thought he was better than Lustig (defensively aside). He's a player who on form can be the best in the SPL and is still only 24, so if he's available cheap I'd be snapping the hand off.

I think there's a lot of uncomfortable truth in this. As popular as Lustig is, just like there's an art to buying players, there is such a thing as selling players at the right time. Perhaps we have to accept that Lustig will be too expensive to have injured or potentially second fiddle and may be worth selling off the back of a decent Euros.

In saying that, managers tend to value experience so BR may keep a hold regardless of the obvious physical concerns.

I think there's a lot of nonsense in it as well.

Saying Lustig is not up to top level football is a lot of *. He played 46 games last season.

Is now back in training and has shaken off that injury. He is one of few players in our squad who actually HAS top level football experience. Last thing we should be looking to do is get rid.

He is a good option to have if used wisely. I do agree that fitness wise he obviously isnt the best we have but his experience is invaluable.

Rosko you mention going to England as well to find a RB. Why go to the most expensive market in the world? You are also hardly giving Janko a chance, assuming he is a crock after one unlucky season.

Spot on, as ive tried to point out Lustig's main problem was having to play far too much due to no back up, he has gone away played a big tournament and had a bit of a rest, he will be better this season no doubt he is a class player

We did that last year and we've got Janko, who should most definitely be given a chance as judging his YouTube videos at Man Utd even though he was up against Youth teams his quality was there to see when he's in full flight.

Last year I think was just unlucky for him as he isn't known for getting injured and didn't have a poor injury record at Man Utd. Actually quite excited to see what Brendan could do with Janko, would be hilarious to see Clint Hill chase after him.

You either go out and build the best defense possible or the team stays at the same level for how many years? It's a tricky one with Darnell Fisher in their as well, but in my opinion we've three right backs, two on a development level, which is nowhere near the standard required in the group stage.

Guys finished, runs like he's got shin splints. Never defended well last season, attacking was atrocious. Mckay gave him the run around in the old firm game. Him Ambrose and Boyata we need shot of ASAP.

Usually a critic but it's hard to say a bad word about him tonight. Was good to see him pulling Gordon aside after the mistake, things like that can make all the difference to a player's performance. There was a distinct lack of creativity in the centre of the park tonight so it was good to see Lustig step up and be a play maker of sorts, some of the balls he picked out were fantastic and he held the line well.

Yip can play there for me. Not so sure of his replacement at RB though.
