Would we be better signing Kris Boyd and punting Stokes?

Going by your theory, Boyd would be better as he has scored more goals than Stokes this season.

 

How are assists not as valuable as goals? They are goals, for *'s sake. Matters not a * who's putting the final touch to it.

Theres no doubt he's not been on his usual form, he ended last season with 9 despite missing 7 months of the season.

 

Just wish we had signed Michael Higdon. Obviously better than Hooper after he outscored him in the league last season.

 

i don't get the jokes about Michael Higdon. He's already into double figures this season in Holland. He would have scored goals for us.

 

Higdon has the same goals in his first season playing in Holland at a struggling team as Stokes does with Celtic this season, in less games played.

Higdon - 27 games, 24 starts, 11 goals, 4 assists.

Stokes - 37 games, 31 starts, 11 goals, 9 assists.

 

He was a lump of wood mate. He may well have scored goals, but his play in general is absolutely honking. You cannot seriously have wanted us to sign him surely? Holland isn't exactly the hardest league in the World to score either to be fair. There is a lot of high scoring games over there.

Would you rather have him over Stokes or Hooper when he was here? That is the point of this debate.

Im going to back date the assists to when Larsson signed, mainly just to find out how many he made but its good to see all the other players too. Aye, was suprised at Juninho and McGeady, reading the match deports him and McGeady set up a lot of chances in games - McGeady was only 18 then too, most of Thompson and Petrov's assists were from corners.

 

No, it's really not. He was inconsequential to them because he didn't add anything to the team as a whole. It's why players like Pippo Inzaghi weren't better than the likes of Raul, why players like Kris Boyd weren't better than Henrik Larsson.

Football is more than just scoring goals, you can be a goalscorer and be a burden on the team. In the modern game you need to be a team player.

 

Or players like Bergkamp are better than Yakubu or Darren Bent.

 

Aye, exactly what I'm getting at. Whose better, Dennis Bergkamp or Andy Cole? Anybody would answer Bergkamp and his goalscoring record is laughable compared to Coles.

 

Pretty sure Inzaghi won games with his goals...Champions League final rings a bell..so that's another poor example.

He added goals and that was that, it's why they made no effort to keep him. Do you think if Bayern wanted him he would currently be at Fiorentina? He offered nothing outside of goals.

Andy Cole never had 40 goals in a season. Do you think he is a better football player than Bergkamp?
