    Anybody have his final stats?

74/75 goals in 200+ games I'm sure, would like to know the exact numbers though.

im over the moon he hasnt got a new contract ,ignoring for a second the fact he is awful ,why would a contract be given to an ageing squad player with no sell on value .celtic have wasted enough money on samaras who may do something positive on the rarest of occasions

    Miserable *..

Absolute class from sammy today, showed what kind of man he is and what celtic means and will mean to him..

Good luck in the future big man, have a good world cup and get a decent move..

The timing was absolutely right today!

I'll give you that one, gloating, is more fitting..

I know it's time and I've been wanting it for months but seeing the sammy the impact footballer today and the sammy the person half changed my mind..

Maybe it was just the occasion and tomorrow the normality will kick back in..

I think we are all getting a bit misty eyed with regards to Sammy - especially after today.

The time is right for him to move on but all this 'I'm glad he's leaving' and 'turned up in a few games' chat is pish. The guy contributed to the team for 7 years, never bad mouthed anyone - supporters or the manager - when he was getting dogs abuse, instead he got his head down and worked hard and provided us with some memorable moments. He could have easily hid or left, but he clearly has an affinity with the club and that should be commended.

    True..

I've praised sammy plenty and gave that big man some serious stick and pelters down the years and mostly, rightly so.. Not after today though, kind of hits home when you see and hear exactly what he's all about, incase like me, any of us forgot..

Even if like me now and for a while or never was your flavour of the month, he should go with all our best wishes..

Ageing squad player with no sell on value? He was a first team regular for years until Christmas. 29 is hardly ageing and as for "no sell on value", we let him run his contract down FFS! We could have signed him for one more year, had him for one last CL campaign and then sold him in January to more than cover the cost of his wages (6 months at £25k is just over £600k).

As others have said, though, the timing is right for both parties, our playing style is evolving. I wish Sammy all the best and thank him for all his 7 years of excellent service.

    Ooh Ah Samaras!! :54:

Gonna miss the big man. It's often overlooked that he scored some very important goals, when he first came on loan, like winners at Motherwell and at home to Aberdeen.

All the best to him wherever he ends up now.
