Not his best game but he was still very vital tonight .

Worked hard but his habit of holding on to the ball too long and losing possession is ridiculous.

Took a free kick smack bang on the kisser, full pelt.

He puts his head in where it hurts to come away with another 3 CL points.

    Captain courageous!!

    :50:

3 or 4 men on him most of the game.

Can't help but love the big guy even when he doesn't play well, he tried his best tonight, but thought he was poor at distributing the ball. Who cares though :D

Yeah he does that far too often.

He has pace, he has the ability to run fast with the ball at his feet and he has the ability to put some nice balls into the box. His problem is his decision making, he kills the momentum of a lot of attacks by choosing the wrong option.

Brutally honest I thought he was poor tonight..

Run like * and tried his best but gave the ball away or run it out the park too many times and how many stupid fouls did he give away when he lost possession of the ball by flicking it too far infront..
We know what we're getting from Sammy an he was an outlet and is some good work tracking back aswell as well as a couple of good balls in with his left but he needs to get the head up and spot the man in space..

Another thing about Sammy is that he received 37 passes - that's 10 more than the next closest guy (Izzy) and he received more than twice the amount of passes as most of our players. Shows you that he's always the guy that the rest of the squad look for.

Played a big part for the 2nd goal but not one of his best performances. Runs with it for so long that sometimes it's only a matter of time until he has a dodgy touch or runs into traffic.

But having a player who can carry the ball for some of the distances he can is a top quality asset to have.

They doubled up on him the whole night which allowed others more space. Still put in a shift and was an outlet with the ball

I've not loved a man like him since Larsson.

Being brutally honest, I thought he was our worst performer last night. He gave the ball away far too often, whether it was from a bad touch that took the ball too far in front, or just from running into defenders, it was infuriating to watch.

Usually the first person to praise Sammy but I also didn't think he was as good as he has been in recent CL games. Gave the ball away too often for me and I didn't think he played well.

Showed his quality against ajax -- and took a sore one for the team

When he plays like this for 90 minutes i can't praise him highly enough -- if only he had the consistency, saying that, many of our players seem to find an extra gear at home in the CL league. Long may it continue

I agree 100%. Yesterday he seemed very frustrated with his own performance, whining to the refs constantly etc. He slows down the play _every time_ he gets the ball (even if he sometimes succeeds in his dribbles) and he gets dispossessed far too easily even against a weak Ajax side.

I don't think Samaras is (any longer) the man to take Celtic to a top 2 position in the group stage. In SPL he'll do nicely, but the higher the level, the higher the risks in playing Samaras. Losing the ball so easily and slowing down each of Celtic's attacks can be very fatal when the opponent is of higher quality than Ajax.

He had one not so good game in the champions league and you say this? I don't think you know what you're talking about tbh. He always plays better in the Champions league than in the SPL and he is still one of our key players in Europe. Thought he was great against Milan and Barca.

Edit: Actually think he did alright against Ajax.

Think you guys are being too harsh on him, thought he played fine. He made a long pass in the first half to Stokes that showed amazing vision and technique.

One thing he done last night that I really liked was after the ajax goal when he ran straight towards the ajax half from kickoff when the whole ajax team would have been expecting him to pass it back to our defence, he was pretty much through on goal as well when the red blew for full time.
