It should suit him but he's never played well at Hampden before that I can recall? His sub appearance in the semi was diabolical. But he had played his way in probably at the weekend, dont think anyone expected him to start the final but 2 goals and a good showing against Dundee Utd has probably got him a start.

Would be a shame to see Stokes left out again but Stokes can make an impact from the bench, Samaras is a bit too slow to start off so rarely ever makes an impact from the bench.

 

Absolute * last night, never even tried to win a long ball in the air. Definetly not the answer playing up front.

 

Samaras should only ever be played wide left, he does not want to play anywhere else and can't play as a lone striker through the middle. The penny should have dropped with Lenny on that one by now.

 

Worst he's played in a while, he just isn't a striker. I don't know why Lennon played him there, offered absolutely nothing.

Don't now what's going to happen in Europe this season. Derk is a left winger but Sammy is best in that position, only way they can both play is if Sammy plays as the striker.

We should give him a shot on the right wing really, never know how good he could be.

 

He was poor last night I put a lot if that down to injury which eventually forced him off

He's played on the right a few times I've seen him play for Greece and looked pretty good.

 

Yeah I'd try him on the right when the dutch guy comes back in place of Forrest. Forrest isn't good enough for the CL by the looks of it.

 

He could do a job on the right I'm sure of it,better on the left but would still cause problems...

Remember him at rugby park as a striker but was on the right absolutely skinned the defender for pace from near enough the halfway line and scored a lovely goal..
That's what he's capable off

 

The penalty he won in the Sammy new year derby as well.

Yep it was his poorest performance in a while,but he was no worse than most,should have got the header on target but was also clearly not fully fit due to them smashing him in the 1st leg,I actually thinking keeping him ON ahead of stokes would have been better than stokes coming on and elbowing everything that moved or Balde on for some presence.

 

he was nursing an injury (toe) and he had absolutely nothing to work with. Very poor team performance -- best forgotten.

 

Samaras has the ideal qualities to be a lone striker but every time he was pictured on Wednesday he was drifting out wide left leaving no-one in the middle.

 

Yeah very frustrating. The whole team was crap though.

Hopefully it was the pitch that caused it.

 

If you play the ball to his feet he can play anywhere.

Just because he is tall and decent in the air we shouldn't just punt the ball up to him and expect him to win/contest every header. That is not his game and you could see he was getting annoyed with it. As anyone would.

 

That's a good point. It's not like he had much support to knock it onto.
