I'm not the biggest fan of it either.

However, don't you think that may have contributed to the miss?

Does the Hearts penalty taker change his mind after Samaras's antics?

Who knows but there's that possibility, personally - I was delighted but I can see your point mate.

I don't normally like that sort of thing either, but in this case I think it was justified.

The Hearts player had clearly tried to gain an advantage by placing the ball in front of the spot. Sammy was correct when he pointed it out, & that was confirmed by the ref moving it back for the kicker to reposition it. Way I look at it, the Hearts player was indulging in gamesmanship, and Sammy was just not standing for it.

Additionally, shouldn't have been a penalty anyway, so justice was done. :50:

I'm not really fussed if my posts annoy you. I support Samaras when he's on the pitch but once the game is over I reserve the right to criticise his performances if they are bad. They generally are.

No doubt about it mate. The gamesmanship by Samaras and Forster definitely put Eggert Jonsson off and, obviously, I am delighted that Jonsson missed.

There's bound to come a day when the same thing will happen to us though. And I'm sure I won't be the only angry bunny if/when one of our players gets put off the way Jonsson was put off.

Ach away! You reserve the right to criticise his performances regardless of whether they're bad, good or average. :56:

Not true. I have gave Samaras credit a couple of times in recent weeks for the way he has played.

I hope you will be so magnanimous when Broony plays well on the 28th. :icon_mrgreen:

Broony won't be playing on the 28th with any luck - will get himself suspended in advance as per usual. :56:

    It wasn't gamesmanship.

Their player was cheating & not following the rules
    & was rightly challenged.

If it was gamesmanship the ref would have had his book out,
instead he acknowledged his own ineptitude to administer the rules.

This is the best I have seen Samaras play in a couple of years. I'm not going to criticise him until (if it does) his form takes the customary nose dive and he becomes anonymous for 70 minutes. You only notice he was there when he gets substituted or routinely gives the ball away. I've been pleased with his recent performances, a couple of blinders and a few solid games, that's a step in the correct direction for sure.

Until that Samaras returns, which I do not want to happen. I'll reserve judgement and be satisfied that his overall performances have improved over the last month, hoping that he continues to do the same for the remainder of the season.

Samaras was definitely trying to put the guy off. Can't really see the problem with it though. It's still the responsibility of the striker to score. If he lets something like that get to him then he deserves to miss.

And yes, I would be saying the same thing if one of their players had done the same to us.

Well Johnsson was trying to gain an unfair advantage. It's his own fault if opposing players notice this and voice their concerns.

Next time he'll know to place the ball down on the spot properly, a skill I learned when I was a toddler.

No. We really don't know that. But some of us love to assume.

The ball was in front of the penalty spot, Sammy was right to get it moved back to it's correct position.

Regardless of that it was a very smart move on Sammy's part.

It was that mob's just desserts anyway as they kicked us all over the place.

The point some seem to be missing.

It was absolutely correct that someone got that moved.
