he said in the sun, that he came back from the world cup and was rushed into games, which fair enough is a decent excuse. he says he wants to prove himself this year and the trip to australia really boosted his morale saying its like a second home, he even met some greek fans there. think if we got behind him more like we are commons or hooper he could improve alot, but i have to agree he is clumbsy and for his height hes horrible in the air, needs to score more goals and step his game this year or he should move on

Nope, 15 is not good enough for a Celtic ST and will not win us the league.

Relatively speaking, this season onwards, we should be the Barca of the spl - playing the nicest football, having some of the very best players in the league, etc, etc.

So if Barca forwards can score 30 each against their opposition, then relatively so should our forwards against our opposition.

Agreed. Whilst I think Sammy is not good enough THIS is the fact. We were cheated out of the league last season by the establishments FOD.

Clearly, though, if we had better players and were scoring for fun then the HFA would not be in a position to cheat us out of the league!!!

He has been * for 3 seasons now. I dont understand the adulation he gets from some fans.

We couldnt give him away. If we have to rely on him this season then I really despair.

Forget the giving the ball away.
Forget the being unable to link up with his strike partner.
Forget the going round in wee circles and then heading in the wrong direction.
Forget the hands in air "look at me" when he loses the ball and lies on the ground.

Ultimately 3 league goals a season for a striker is not good enough. In fact, its * atrocious. The guy is too inconsistent for us. Has had numerous opportunites with a variety of strikers and bar the very odd occasion when he does something right, he isnt fit to wear the shirt.

Nothing will convince me otherwise after 3 seasons at the club.

jesus our best forward hooper only got 20 last season, stokes only got 15 spl goals. 15 goals from 3th choice striker would be good ,

    another good post.

he has had 3 years here to find his feet and establish himself. imo, he hasnt improved at all. he has been here longer than most of our players but you wouldnt guess it.

he has had more than his fair share of chances and hasnt taken one of them. punt him now.

It baffles me that there are still some people that blame Sammy for costing us the league. It was one game, where we left ibrox with a draw and the title was in our hands. It was a good result. And the reason Samaras and not Commons took the penalty was because Commons didn't start the game and it was decided before kick-off that Samaras would take any pens - as stated by Lenny himself.

As for being happy with Sammy scoring 15 a season then yes I would be. He isn't one of the two poachers at the club (Hooper, Stokes) who will hopefully get 50+ a season between them, he gives us something different and will be very useful away in Europe. He is also better at playing as a target man than people give him credit for and wins his fair share of headers from goal-kicks and that. Punt Murphy and get in another ST who will score around 20 a season but in a different mould to Hooper and we will have a very dynamic and interchangable strikeforce.

    YNWA! gets me every time!

any celtic striker for me should hit at least 20 a season for it to be a relative success, especially if its not your first season.

i really hope he bangs them in cos i like him and i dont like celtic players not being liked by their own fans!
