    Being the romantic guy I am, I'm getting my girlfriend nothing. She doesn't want anything and we were both happy not celebrating it last year.

    Another way of making money for shops and restaurants, as if there weren't enough already

    I like Valentine's Day. I like to make my own cards and give them to my nephews (and boyfriend when I had one).

    Do women really make a big deal out of Valentine's Day? I have never expected much, and no one I know makes a big deal out of it.

    I think it's nice to make a fuss of your g/f and make her feel special. Who cares if the idea of Valentine's day is commercialised and allows card companies to make copious amounts of money? That's not important. What matters is showing that special person in your life just how much you appreciate them.

    When I was 17 and had a boyfriend we made a deal that we wouldn't go overboard with Valentine's Day. We decided that we could only spend a maximum amount of $20 on each other. I don't remember what we gave each other, and maybe we stayed at home at watched a movie and made dinner at his family's house. I was perfectly happy with that.

    I don't bother with Valentines Day.....it's too commercialised for my liking, like Christmas and Easter.

    You can make a fuss of a loved one anytime....it is better when it is spontaneous then forced upon I think
