I honestly wouldn't sell any of our major players for any money atm. You could offer us 50 million for Hooper tonight but I still wouldn't take it. We need the league this season, and tbh I don't give a * how much that might cost us.

we wouldn't be 'just letting him go'.

...we'd be letting him go for £13.5m!!!!! i don't care how late in the day it is, that's seriously good money. i'd expect Lennon and Lawwell working hard to get his top target in if the bid is real as Hooper won't be here come 1st Feb.

Yea I know, I'm aware that's great money, but a goalscorer is the hardest position to find in football IMO. If we let Hoops leave we will regret it, I am certain.

Let' be serious we aren't going to be offered £13.5m for hooper in this window :56:. Selling him now would be suicidal though, we couldn't replace him and would leave us with one proven goal scorer.

if there is any truth to these links (which I doubt) Id be wanting at least 10-12 million for the guy. Id bleed those Russians dry before selling him. Not as if they dont have the money.

shame billy Sharp has just moved to southampton. If we had recieved a BIG money offer for Hooper earlier in the window it would have been hard to turn down. Coulda used a small part of the dosh to bring in Sharp who is a ready made replacment for hooper IMO, same type of player and goalscorer. Then used the rest on some quality around the team and upfront again.

Im not saying I want Hooper sold, just saying that if we were to recieve a real good offer that Sharp would have been a decent short/long term replacement till the summer. Always liked him as a player.

Cant see Hoops leaving just yet though.

Haha I know it seems ridiculous, but what would we do with 50 million tomorrow? Nothing sensible financially anyway.

What I'm really saying is I want us to win the league this season at any cost, and I don't think we'll do that without Hooper.

RUSSIAN giants Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow are in a dramatic duel for Celtic striker Gary Hooper.
And a third Russian club, Lokomotiv Moscow, wants his strike buddy Anthony Stokes.
SunSport can reveal the Parkhead hitmen have shot to the top of the wanted list in cash-rich Russia.
Hooper has been closely monitored by Zenit and CSKA, who are both prepared to bid £7million for the on-fire hitman.
They don't have to rush to complete the deal today because the Russian transfer window doesn't close until February 24.
But a megabucks bid is sure to tempt Hoops chief Peter Lawwell, who shelled out just £2.5m for the 16-goal hitman 18 months ago.
Celtic rejected two recent bids — the higher believed to be £5m — from Championship side Southampton.
However, both Zenit and CSKA can table bids far in excess of Saints' top offer, with wealthy Zenit owned by Russia's biggest company Gazprom.
CSKA, who were also linked with Rangers ace Nikica Jelavic, could easily give Hooper a massive hike in wages at a time when the SPL leaders have been slow to respond to his stated willingness to sign an improved new long-term contract.
Hooper's current deal is well below those of Celtic's highest earners, including Scott Brown and Joe Ledley.
But his strike rate since joining from Scunthorpe is superb — bagging 32 goals from 48 league starts.
That alerted Zenit and CSKA, who have been impressed by the success of Aiden McGeady at Spartak Moscow since he left Celtic in August 2010, in a £10m move.
Stokes, meanwhile, has caught the eye of Lokomotiv after firing 17 goals this season.
They are ready to stump up £3m for the Irish ace. That would represent good business for Celtic, who bought Stokes for £1m from Hibs in August 2010.
But the Russians could face competition from MLS side Kansas City, who are also keen on the striker.

For us to sell either just now then theyd need to offer about £12million for Hooper and £5million for Stokes. If they try after the window closes then an extra £2million on top since we couldnt replace them.

    I'm with you on this!

Hooper is my fav player and he excites me more than anyone else has in i don't know how many years. He excites me because of what he does week in and week out, he also excites me for what he WILL do in the future. I want this man leading the line in the CL next year (hopefully)
I know the money being flung around is alot but for me theres not one linked player who excites me more than what Hooper does.

IMO we would still win the league without Hooperman but i love to watch him specifically and a wee bit of me would die inside if he goes so soon.

I'm sure we all have had players with that effect on oneself... Just a bit disheartened that many here are willing to punt him.

We would only end up with 6 or 7 squad players in return... :38:

He will cut it.. have a little faith in our players man! He has already done it in the big games in Scotland has scored a few in Europe already (at a time the team was only getting wet behind the ears i might add) and put a couple past decent players in pre-season.. All the signs are there.

Why lose yer balls over the risk of losing some money.. Hooper is a gold mine! But first we take the paydirt (the immediate riches from cup runs/Europe runs)then cash in on the nuggets at the bottom of the glory hole (once he's done a service and fully proved himself). Sorry for the strange post..been watch some * on tv :56: but you get the point. His value will only increase and his value to us over 2 or 3 seasons will exceed the current (alleged) fee being banded about.

It would be idiotic to reject anything over £12million. That is serious money, enough to buy 2 top class players for the Champions League. We are more than capable of winning this league without Hooper.
