Seen an interview with Paul Di Resta in the paper and he says his wee brother is a goalie in Celtic's youth system :icon_mrgreen:

 

Di Resta has sampled the season last year now is the time for him to step up to the mark and start gaining points here and there ...I predicted big things from this guy last year after watching his progress through the ranks..He will be Big trust me i said back then that it would be a 5 year plan and im sticking to that

 

so ferrari, lotus,force india, red bull and sauber have all gone with the platypus nose and they all look ug as but it has got me wondering have mclaren made a mistake by not going with it or has everyone else just went with the trend this year? either way i cant wait for the season to start also looking forward to what hrt or marussia come out with. i also love the testing season

It is odd that McLaren didn't go with the horrible nose, you would imagine it would either be a stroke of genius or a disaster. Hopefully McLaren can get proper testing done this year since last year they spent most it trying to figure out a way to stop the exhaust blowing up.

 

Testing is now underway at Jerez. Red Bull have a vent on the step in the car's nose unlike any other team. Hope this isn't another Adrian Newey masterstroke that will make them far quicker than anyone else again.

The McLaren is a stunning looking thing just hope the smooth nose isn't at a disadvantage to the stepped ones.

 

Adrian Newey says the vent on the nose is to cool the driver and "other parts" and it offers no aerodynamic advantages.

 

Lets hope it slows them(Red Bull) down a bit.:icon_mrgreen:

Kimi Raikkonen posted that fasted time followed by Di Resta but lap times are pretty meaningless at this stage, it's just about testing new parts just now.

Di Resta put in 101 laps!!

Ricciardo and Kobayashi broke down for Scuderia Toro Rosso and Sauber respectively. Caterham's day was cut short when the starter motor shaft broke.

When the new regulations come in during 2014 the car's KERS systems (which will be 4 times more powerful) will act as a starter motor so stalling on track during a race won't put you out from thereon in. All the cars will also run completely under the electric power of the KERS in the pits which will be very odd but I suppose F1 has to move with the times like everyone else.

 

can see the force indias doing well this year but i still see no challenge to vettel imo, guy is in a schumachar style league

 

I dont agree,i think its more down to the cars.Theres not a lot between the top drivers,stick Hamilton,Button,Schumacher etc in Vettels Red Bull and they would win the championship imo.The real hero at Red Bull is Adrian Newey.

 

I kind of agree with you, but Vettel still beat his team mate....again, and he in turn regularly out qualified Coulthard!
I think Massa is a great driver, but Alonso has that real win at any cost streak, and it shows in their performances.
Schumacher clearly cheated Hill to win his first title, but he then went on to........well, you know.
Same with Coulthard being honest to an agreement to allow Hakkinnen past for his first GP win.....Schumacher would have reneged on the deal!

 

I hope webber takes it to vettel, I think 2010 had a huge impact on mark that he didnt get over in 2011, infact arguably it got worse as seb battered him. He absolutley has to hit the ground running in auz come march.

 

Yes he does, as i dont see him getting better, or a better opportunity.

 

Fernando Alonso is the best driver imo. Since his 2nd championship win he hasn't really had a properly competitive car. Suppose he had a decent car at McLaren but allsorts of * happened that season like spygate and his rivalry with his team mate.

The Ferrari was hopeless last year but we seen in the only race of the season where blown diffusers were banned (Silverstone) Alonso won it and was head and shoulders ahead of Massa all season. It's a shame about Massa he really hasn't been the same since Barrichello's spring done him in.

 

Today the hard work starts ...Yesterday was just the teams driving as many laps as possible , today will be the day we start to see where teams are in respect with each other
