Good goalscoring record I agree but don't know enough about his style of play and overall contribution to games to be able to say I'd be happy to see him sign for us.

I don't expect us to be able to afford to bring in the likes of Rhodes or Baba now that their price has sky rocketed and we have to be realistic it will be a long time before we see the likes of £5 Million + splashed out on any player.

I'd have to trust that the scouts and Lenny will have watched the guy closely and have a far better idea of how he could bring us something we need.

    Celtic move could be Hamdi
Salihi welcomes the opportunity to talk to Bhoys about a switch

Hamdi Salihi: Is out of contract at Rapid Vienna in the summer and is a target for Celtic

Celtic transfer target Hamdi Salihi admits he would happily listen to any contract offer that manager Neil Lennon has to make.

Lennon recently confirmed his interest in the forward but has yet to follow it up with a concrete offer.

The 27-year-old Albania international is out of contract in the summer and Rapid Vienna could be tempted into selling for a cut-price fee in January after he turned down their latest contract extension.

And while Salihi confirmed he would welcome a move to Scotland, the striker insists he will not be bought on the cheap.

"Celtic is a club with a great name," Salihi told the Austrian newspaper Kurier. "This could be a good step for my career.

"But I know nothing concrete. The deal would have to be right for all parties, including Rapid."

I wanted him when I thought he was worth £3million, but if he's worth 500k I don't see why we've not got this deal done already. Rhodes and Baba are out of our price range now an this guy would be great back up.

he is but if we agree a pre-contract with him it could force them to sell now. either way, i can wait until the Summer to sign a player of his quality.

Looking over his youtube videos he reminds me alot of Hesselink, id be thrilled if he was this type of player as we have missed him. Although stokes and hooper are quality together there not really strikers who you can launch it in the box too, so for 500k we should be straight in there. Just entering his prime years so could be a really good signing, if he doesn't adapt, its only 500k

According to the players agent, Hamdi Salahi could be a Celtic player by the end of the week (via Total Celtic on Twitter).

This seems a bit of a no brainer! BTW according to his agent he could be a Celtic player by the end of the week, take from that what you must - Total Celtic Twitter (non source really)

I know a Youtube video is nothing to go by but from what I've seen there he looks like a real natural goalscorer and could be a bargain at £500k.

lol fair enough. I meant the way he takes them and his positioning would suggest that from the videos I seen.

I think you're bang on the money. I've not seen that much of him but spent a fair bit of time looking at his partnership with Jelavic. Think he might be better off suited to working with Stokes than Hooper perhaps.

His nickname is "THE BOMBER" that could lead to some interesting headlines if he signs :icon_mrgreen:

If he is signed by the end of the week, it will be good to get someone in this early instead of late in the window.

not in his case really but it's usually a bad idea financially to go in this early in the window.

Yeah. I suppose you have to balance it out about whether to go for him straight away and maybe pay a bit more or risk waiting till late in the window when more clubs may be putting bids in.
