For all we know this time next year, we could be hailing gordon as the best choice ever made after 37 consecutive 1 on 1 saves and 3 penalty shootouts completly shut out winning us the champions league. Give the guy a chance. Although it definitely feels like its an end of an era. Its really back to re-building, hopefully we manage it.

    Forster undergoing a medical...

I think Gordon will turn out to be a very shrewd signing.

Get rid of Zaluska and bring in another young keeper, either that or give Fasan a go. I want to trust Gordon but I simply cant see him playing 40 odd games a season without some sort of injury period.

I would tend to agree on the last part, I can't help that Gordon is going to be the GK equivalent of Sammy in a sense where he is outstanding rarely and dross often (providing he stays fit!), his fitness * terrifies me in all honesty because again I feel that as soon as Gordon gets a few games under his belt he is going to get smacked with some ludicrous injury that will have him out for months and then we will solely rely on Zaluska

What gives me a bit of comfort is knowing that good Celtic teams dont always have great goalkeepers best example being the Seville team. We have been spoiled the last decade though with Artur amd Fraser.

All the best big man, you'll be sorely missed.

Miles better than Boruc for me and our best keeper of the modern era, but will never get the same recognition, as he doesn't bless himself or have big blue eyes.

Sound business though and I'm confident we have brought in an able replacement.

We would have won at least 2 trophies that season if we didn't have Douglas in goal, undoubtedly MON's biggest blind spot.

If we get £10million for Forster than that's great business as I don't think he's worth that. He's been a solid performer for us and I wish him all the best at Southampton.

I'm nowhere near as gutted about this as I was about Boruc leaving though.

To be honest I'm not gutted I think £10mil is amazing for Forster and I didn't think he was as good as some fans made him out to be. If you actually look at it he was a great shot stopper but he is extremely prone to set pieces like corners and crosses he was very scared to come out and get the ball and he is extremely slow getting to the floor because of his height. I now look forward to Craig Gordon being in goals. I really rate him if he stays injury free he will be amazing for us

I'm total opposite I hate seeing players leave:smiley-laughing002:

Unless of course it was Momo Sylla, * hated him, I even remember how fuming I got as a teen that we sold Ross Wallace as I thought his game was coming on far better then McGeady's:smiley-laughing002:

It feels like everytime I start getting used to having a certain player who I will remember in years to come they get a transfer. It's becoming common place :smiley-laughing002:

Ahhh Momo Sylla! He really did play like bambi on ice! The player, back in the day I was most gutted about leaving ( apart from the obvious ) was Stephen Pearson. His CL debut against Barcalona was awesome!

I was actually thinking this earlier. It is becoming so commonplace for our big players to move on after a few years that I'm now getting used to it, which is really very sad.

    Hooper - 3 years
    Forster - 4 years
    Ledley - 3 ½ years
    Wanyama - 2 years
    K.Wilson - 2 years

    Compared to:

    Larsson - 7 years
    Lubo - 4 years
    Sutton - 6 years
    Petrov - 7 years
    Hartson - 5 years

Brown is the only truly loyal member of the squad that we have left now, to be honest; the only guy that would honestly turn down the chance of a big money move to England just to stay with us.

You could also argue a case for Mulgrew, but it's highly doubtful that any of the respectable clubs in England will make an offer for him anyway.
