No hes not, people need to stop saying that.

Gordon is decent on his line but he's weak coming off his line and is a weak goalkeeper in general. He is not even as good as Boruc never mind Forster.

I just can't get my head around the fact that we've sold him before our cl qualifier games, why not tell Southampton they can have him after those games, it's not as if Southampton are in the cl as well and I doubt he'd get injured, madness.

Nah, you're either very stupid or very stubborn not to admit his time at Deadco was to get his fitness up.

    Which is it?

Gordon on top form is pretty close to Forster if not equal, he is also better at cross balls.

All I said was they where interested in buying him

You said he was training which I did not deny but you also said it was purely fitness which I do agree was the first intention but if u honestly believe they where not interested In signing a free agent then your are "stubborn" and deluded yourself especially when I seen the tv interview with Sally and numerous times gordon was asked on sportcene !!!

    Forster much better than him.

Gordon has also never played for an attacking team, he's always played for fairly defensive sides so hasn't been exposed as much as he will be playing for us and being left open a lot.

Gordon is the sort of keeper who liked his defence sitting right on top of him, blocking anyone getting through 1 on 1 and relying on reflex saves that get through, similar to McGregor of the old club or the like of Casillas - can be left floundering when 1 on 1 as they're not big enough or fearless enough to come out.

Boruc and Forster are more comfortable stepping off their line to come out and make saves and more suited to Celtic or good teams, albeit Boruc more than Forster at that but still Forster better at it than Gordon.

Forster is also better at making Saves from distance, Forster great at it rarely beaten by shots from outside the box or freekicks, Boruc was ok at it but not the best but was probably again still better than Gordon.

We will now have a weaker goalkeeper if Gordon replaces Forster, wont make a massive differance but Forster would over a season probably save 5-10 things Gordon won't which may be vital or may not.

That's the quote i disagreed with, not about them allegedly being "interested" in signing him.

The fact is Gordon spent time with the huns getting his fitness up - no grey area about it. McMoist makes claim he'd "love to sign him" - nothing to suggest they TRIED TO ACTUALLY SIGN HIM.

Anyhoo, now that has been cleared up, I'm no spending anymore time chatting about * zombieco/newco/deadco whatever they * are called :56:

Forster is pish at coming off of his line, and it's even more criminal when you look at size of him :38:

Aye, that's almost like saying Samaras is a world beater on his day - * once in a blue moon

Gordon has never been solid at coming off his line, i dont deny it - but if Forster can get away with it, then so can Gordon (albeit if his shot-stopping is up to scratch).

If I was rating keepers from Scotland i'd go

    BORUC
    9/10 1 on 1
7/10 short reflex saves from close range
    6/10 shots from distance
    7/10 penalties
    6/10 freekicks
    7/10 crosses
    6/10 kicking

    FORSTER
    7/10 1 on 1
8/10 short reflex saves from close range
    9/10 shots from distance
    8/10 penalties
    9/10 freekicks
    5/10 crosses
    5/10 kicking

    GORDON
    6/10 1 on 1
8/10 short reflex saves from close range
    6/10 shots from distance
    7/10 penalties
    6/10 freekicks
    6/10 crosses
    6/10 kicking

    MCGREGOR
    6/10 1 on 1
8/10 short reflex saves from close range
    4/10 shots from distance
    7/10 penalties
    5/10 freekicks
    6/10 crosses
    4/10 kicking

    KLOS

    7/10 1 on 1
8/10 short reflex saves from close range
    6/10 shots from distance
    7/10 penalties
    7/10 freekicks
    6/10 crosses
    3/10 kicking

In comparison to a world class keeper for example

    NEUER

    10/10 1 on 1
9/10 short reflex saves from close range
    9/10 shots from distance
    8/10 penalties
    9/10 freekicks
    8/10 crosses
    7/10 kicking

If you ignore kicking as it doesnt matter very much

    53/60 Neuer
    46/60 Forster
    41/60 Klos
    40/60 Boruc
    39/60 Gordon
    38/60 McGregor

We're stepping down quite substancially about the same as replacing the like of Neuer with Forster, replacing Forster with Gordon and thats assuming Gordon is close to his best.

How anyone can really comment on Gordon having not seen him play for such a long time is beyond me. I'm hopeful Gordon will stay fit and put in a decent shift, that way we don't have to invest any Forster money on a keeper and plough that in to wingers and strikers.
