    Guess who........................

If Forster beats Van der Sar's record we should ignore it

Anyone who saw Fraser Forster’s latest record-breaking clean sheet on Saturday will know he’s a lucky boy. It was in no way a commanding performance – he dropped a cross and swiped at another ball into the box so carelessly he needed a team-mate to clear the ball off the line to keep his sheet clean.
If he has another shutout at Aberdeen on Tuesday night, and keeps the ball out of his net for the first seven minutes of the game at home to Inveness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday, then Forster will break Edwin van der Sar’s record for minutes without conceding a goal.
I’ve written about this in my column recently and I make no apology for stressing it again. I personally believe Forster should not be recognised as the official record holder. And here’s the reason you will find impossible to ignore.

Record-breaker: Fraser Forster has kept 13 clean sheets in a row for Celtic

When Celtic went to Hearts on Saturday the home side played one up front: for 52 minutes. That was on-loan West Ham 20-year-old Paul McCallum, who scored three goals in six games for League Two strugglers Torquay in the first half of this season. For the rest of the game it was Dale Carrick, a promising youth product at Tynecastle who’s just turned 20 and has one goal in 37 appearances for the club. It would have been embarrassing had Forster not kept a clean sheet.
What about the prolific scorers in Scotland? Obviously the top marksman is a Celtic player – Kris Commons. Next up with 16 is Stevie May who nearly joined Peterborough in League One last summer, but there has been no interest from a higher division.
Also on 16 goals is Kris Boyd of Kilmarnock. Remarkably he was left on the bench when Killy failed to score at Celtic during Forster’s run. Preferred up front was William Gros – two goals in 49 appearances for Kilmarnock. Boyd was selected in games before and after that Celtic match, and scored in them. What a bizarre decision.

Gaffe: The England international was lucky to escape with a clean sheet after dropping this Hearts cross

Van der Sar had to keep out the likes of Tim Cahill, Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, Robinho, Luka Modric, Darren Bent and Djibril Cisse – players who the Scottish Premiership can only dream of attracting.
Forster’s a good keeper, I think he should be England’s No 2. But while his football friends and Celtic fans will all slap him on the back, deep down they know it’s meaningless.

I hope Aberdeen do football a favour on Tuesday night.

How did Jerome Rothen do at Rangers btw? * clown.

You should have heard the * he was spouting last night about the zombies. It was everycunt else's fault they are in the position they are in and how they are a national treasure and should be protected by all the other clubs and the SFA

He's the English version of Hugh Keevins :smiley-laughing002:

I don't want to wish harm on anyone but Adrian Durham really annoys me with his anti Celtic ramblings. He is a wee *.

Well done Fraser. Ignore the bitter wee *.

So I guess all of that "Fraser must leave Celtic to ever get another England call up again" was crap.

I really believe that if Gary had stopped and banged in a few Champions league goals along with 20 SPL goals then he would of been getting a few of these up comings friendlies. There is no current stand out english strikers at the mo and Gary would have been digging at there heels. Unfortunatly he has chosen the wrong move. Shame cos i quite like Norwich aswel.

No stand out? Rooney is an obvious one. But surely Sturridge is standing out?!
