Van der Sar holds the British record, not the European.

Setting a world record would be pretty incredible. I really hope he can do it.

The Owl would probably still leave him out the England squad.

Nah, this is a great question. We were debating this at the weekend. Anyone shed any light?

Reading the ET earlier and they were asking whether Foster was a "legend"or "lucky". Ronnie Cully claimed both while Michael Grant said he was lucky. Grant claimed while it was a good achievement breaking a record that stood for so long. He was lucky for 2 reasons; the first being "No Ranjurs to compete against and therefore no great competition" and secondly the best defence Celtic have had in the last decade.

I despair at these so called "journos" who fail to recognise achievement due to prejudice or lack of knowledge.

All those suggesting that the record has somehow manifested itself due to their being no manks in the league are completely disregarding the fact despite being extremely young for a goalkeeper he has broken records wherever he has played.

So either it is pure coincidence that he is lucky and circumstances have dictated it was easier for him to break the records, or (more likely) he is simply a class goalkeeper who is still being seriously under rated.

Congratulations to the big lad! That's some feat considering he's been wearing a grey jersey for a fair portion of the time :)smiley-laughing002:).

But let's not get carried away. He's still nowhere near the finished article and is hugely over-rated! He had a couple of brainfarts in his record-breaking match that may well have cost us against better opponents. He's a good keeper, but he plays in a league where his team-mates are vastly superior to the opposition they face week-in-week-out. It's a statistical certainty that he will therefore be exposed, or tested less.

I still maintain that he should be sold whilst his stock is high (i.e. this summer!) as I reckon we could get just as good with the money his sale would bring in... and would likely have change to buy a couple more players (or pay wages).

I don't care what league your playing in to go as long as Forster and Celtic have without giving up a goal is incredible and the big man deserves to be lauded as in a number of those games he has had to come up with some big time saves. He is without doubt a top class keeper and I think anybody who attempts to down play his achievements so far this season has either not seen him play or is just a very blinkered and pathetic individual.

In his first two season with us he matched the League record of 21 clean sheets which he shares with Rab Douglas, people forget that too.

He has matched or set a couple of records and is only one of 3 Celtic keepers with a +50% cleansheet record.

I looked up Hun keepers stats too, to compare how many clean sheets they keep, they usually played more defensive than us too.

They kept clean sheets in (% of their matches)

    Woods 53%
    Klos 47%
    Goram 42%
    McGregor 42%

Woods is probably their best, never looked back through all their keepers and id guess that no diddy teams keepers have better records so Forster currently sits 4th of the highest % of clean sheets behind Shaw, Woods and Douglas id imagine out all keepers who played over 100 games.

If he keeps clean sheets in 10 of the last 12 games this season then was to leave he'd leave with the best clean sheet record in Scottish football. As it would take him to 53.57% clean sheets which would over-take the 53.13% of Charlie Shaw. Chris Woods is 52.6 something.

21(for a keeper - held by Douglas and Forster, Forster has done it twice) I think for a Club its 25(held by Forster and Zaluksa who done 4 games and Forster 21).

He's currently on 16. So needs 6 in 12 games.

6 Clean Sheets would set a new Player record for most in a League season(current 21)
10 Clean Sheets would set a new team record for most in a season (current 25)
He jointly already holds these records too lol

He also needs 10 to set a new record for a keeper in a season currently held by Charlie Shaw 31, 9 would equal that, 8 would put him joint 2nd with Chris Woods and Ronnie Simpson.
