do you know what * me off?

The fact that there is a general opinion that he has to go to England to maintain his international place.

We have about 15 full internationals in our team but it's only in England that playing in Glasgow harms your chances of international caps.

Unbelievable arrogance from a country who have done the square root of * all for decades.

That's why I don't get his obsession. If he doesn't want be a bench warmer at club level I can't see why he would want to do it for his national side.

Fantastic goalkeeper. The best I have seen at CP. The thought of him going and us being in the position of having Zaluska as a No1 is pretty awful.

He is a better keeper than Hart and if/ when he goes to England, he will become their No1.

International football is still the pinnacle of most footballers careers.

That's actually a very very good point. It only seems to be a big issue and obstacle when the player is English. I'm glad big Sutton and Thompson weren't giving it any of that "oh I'll need to leave Celtic for a call up" pish.

He's English. It's most likely a dream of his to represent his country.....I can see absolutely nothing negative with that.

Again like, even when we had Alan Thompson storming it at the top of his game, both domestically and on the continent, the most that was thrown his way was one poxy friendly match .

Never given any sort of chance - even though Engerland were absolutely crying out for a left midfielder at the time.

Those in charge of the FA and associated with the English national team are footballing snobs.

I thought that perhaps Hodgson may have been a bit more open minded - especially as he made inroads of calling up Forster - but it seems as though he has towed the part line.

Budgie look-a-like * that he is.

    * me off too. I no longer really care about the England team, and I think one of the - many- reasons is that it seems to be an elite little club ran for the benfit of players who play for the 'big boys'.
We can't understand why a player like eg Rickie Lambert, who has scored goals at every level (despite being written off every time he stepped up a level) doesn't get a sniff of a chance despite scoring more goals than any other Englishman, and at a time when caps are handed out like kids sweeties.

We were chatting about Alan Thompson in work only the other week, how on earth did he not get in the England side at the time, it really does beggar belief.

I'm not implying that its a negative that he wishes to play for his country (although in hindsight the post does read a little bit like I am) it's the arguably the futility of what he's trying to do. Like I said if he goes to a top side down south then he should without a doubt be England's first choice.

However, if he goes to a mid-table or lower side, which some reports would suggest he would be willing to do (although the articles could be complete rubbish) then it's not going to help him all that much unless he later moves to a bigger club.

He is easily on par with someone like Hart in my opinion and should have played a game for them by now. Tonight's Ireland match would have been a good opportunity.

It's disgusting now that I think about it actually.

I'm sure at the time Thompson got the cap (against Sweden was it?) he was absolutely at his peak at Celtic.

England were definitely at their weakest on the left side of midfield, think they had guys like Trevor Sinclair etc playing .

Yeah their treatment of Alan Thompson was ridiculous.

Making him play a b cap match.

The guy was a multiple title winner, cup winner and CL regular.

    Idiots.

He's better than Joe Shart, imo.

It's deplorable to think that a young man who has produced arguably the best display of any goalkeeper in the Champions League this year can be overlooked for dross like Jack Butland.

If playing for England is his absolute dream, which I'm sure it may be - he may feel that he has no chance of getting a decent proper shot until he plays in the premiership - regardless of what team it is with.

It's a shame if he does feel like that, although I could understand at least those motives for wishing to move home.

    * England.

I know Sutton was made to play a "B" game, but I think Thompson played in a full international friendly.

Chris refused to play in the B game, effectively ending his International career.

And he is a legend and a gentleman.

Ahh right, I thought Sutton played the "B" game then told them to ram it afterwards.

    Terrible......their loss.

Incredibl when you look back at how good a player he was. Never ever gave less than 100% and would * on any striker they have in their squad now.

Especially when one of the deadliest combinations the English Premier League has laid eyes upon was Sutton and Shearer.

Who was getting in the England 11 at the time Sutton was with us? That's right, the one and only Emile.

I often get mistaken for Chris Sutton, in fact I look exactly like he would if he were short, fat and bald. The only real way to tell the difference, is that I am much better on my right peg than he is.

Hoddle was using Eileen Drewery and * to select the side at that time though...

    Crackpot.
