I think it's a fallacy to say he has no weaknesses in his game, he clearly did have and still does. However, noting them and improving them has took him to the England squad and worldwide plaudits.

For me his kicking is still very poor but apart from that he is a collosus. He has also come out his shell massively which has meant barking orders, psyching out opponents and winding folk up are now a regular part of his game.

Stevie Woods takes a huge chunk of the plaudits imo - he has introduced the yoga, fancy diets and original training regimes.

See that video, it excludes what I think is his best ever save in a Celtic jersey and it was in the home Barca game.
Where Messi takes one touch and buries it straight for the top corner. Fraser literally gets a fingernail on it and it hits the middle of the bar. It was superhuman!

Was that the save where the ref wrongly gives a goal kick?

Aye, majestic save and hardly anyone seemed to notice it at the time it seemed.

Aye, that's been his best save yet for me, he was freakishly quick.

    Forster is a * *. Give him 100k a week and a 11 year deal NOW!
Always liked the big guy, never understood the criticism of him in his 1st season when he broke the clean sheet record and made that wonder save vs Jellyfish, who has since gone on to prove his quality in England. Really please he's finally getting the plaudits and loved how we started chanting his name before the peno the other day, he takes all the credit of course but I like to think that support helped him just a bit and gave him extra confidence to get it right up those orange muppets.

Imo only Cech has been better than him the last 18 months.

For me the two bold bits are connected.

Yoga/meditation is great for establishing a relaxed self-confidence in quite a short period of time - just kinda bypasses any insecurities or hangups, & cuts straight to the chase. The change is his attitude seems to have been so quick, that's my guess...

His kicking has always been sensational. He can easily kick it 60+ yards with either foot. Not many keepers can do that.

I still think his best performance was against St. Mirren last year when we won 3-0. I have rarely seen a keeper dominate the attacking forwards so much. They had so many 1v1s but they just never looked like scoring.

It must be quite scary having to take a penalty against him as well. Not only does he look very imposing in the net and try to get in his opponents head. But if you think about it, a goal is about 7m wide and he is about 2m tall. That means if he guesses the right way then he's basically going to save the penalty unless it's actually touching the inside of the post.

Naw I agree with Hammer. Not so much his kicking as his actual 'distribution'. There are keepers who would be able to stick it on Sammy's head/chest 9 times out of 10. Big FF isn't very strong in that department.

His distribution to Samaras was excellent against Motherwell. And if you watch him at half-time he consistently kicks the ball over the half-way line to Stevie Woods. Almost never more than a yard out whether the balls in his hands or on the deck. In fact even look at his assist for Watt, is that a keeper who can't kick?

I'm not having a go but, thats not the same as being
    under pressure in a game.

in training most players won't miss a penalty ,but when it counts
    & the nuts are shrivelling it's different:50:

To be fair, he set up Watt because Xavi missed kicked it, otherwise it would have gone straight to them again. It's his only real 'weakness'.

His kicking has improved dramatically since his first season, and I thought that was his biggest weakness. And even with the great improvement it's still his biggest weakness. Sounds like a massive criticism but it really isn't. Probably his only fault.
Absolutely love Forster. I think it's just great after the years of havin a * goalie when I was growing up, finally seen two top goalies at Celtic in boruc and Forster, with Forster quickly becoming the best I've seen here

His kicking HAS improved immensely since he joined. However it still his weakest aspect in my opinion. One thing i've noticed is have you seen how lately he has begun to throw the ball to like the half way line after catching corners or crosses to start counter attacks. Just as good as a kick and far more accurate. Seen him do it a good few times recently and i love it.

This doesn't take the last game against Spartak into the equation were he had a few:

49 - Fraser Forster has made more saves (49) than any other goalkeeper in the Champions League group stage so far. #safehands

Mods would it be possible to have the poll removed from this thread?

I think it's safe to say that big Fras is a keeper. No pun intended.

Nah, don't do that. Then you wouldn't be able to do stuff like this after his performances against Barcelona!

Don't know about 9/10 but off the top of my head, Reina, Van Der Sar and David De Gea are all fantastic with their feet. De Gea especially, even at Athletico it always jumped out at me. I don't feel that big FF needs to improve because even the world's best keepers aren't great at passing the ball, however it could be improved IMO.

Well, his 'assist' for Tony was a very poor kick to be honest. It was out of his hands and landed straight at Xavi's feet with no Celtic player in sight.

I'm not trying to have a pop at FF but his distribution isn't anything special.
